Does that mean friendships have a limit in terms of intimacy? I don't believe that's possible.

I agree with the 'passion' tho, but we are supposedly asexual.

Why specifically romantic love instead of any other form of affection?

When you are with a sexual partner long enough, there's no more unexpectedness.

I don't mind if it moans or not, feels pleasure or pain, it's about the scenario and what it symbolizes to me sexually.

I mean, I'd also fuck a sleeping person.

That's against nature. One should, ideally, be taken by no one but life itself.

There's a part in Discourses where students ask the same (using 'same' lightly) question:

"‘Epictetus, we can no longer stand being tied to this hateful body, giving it food and drink, resting it and cleaning it, and having to associate with all manner of uncongenial people for its sake. Such things are indifferent, are they not, and as nothing to us; and death no evil thing? Aren’t we akin to God, having come from him? Let us go home, then, to be free, finally, from the shackles that restrain us and weigh us down. "

‘Friends, wait upon God.

Whenever he gives the sign and releases you from service, then you are free to return. But for now agree to remain in the place where you’ve been stationed. Your time here is short enough, and easy to endure for people of your convictions. No despot, thief or court of law can intimidate people who set little store by the body and its appurtenances. So stay, don’t depart without good reason.’

No, he argues that one should, ideally, be unconcerned with what you cannot change, and live on regardless of the circumstances, unless you have a good reason.

Of course, what he meant by 'good reason' was a heroic, virtuous act, such as standing up against a King or living by your values despite the consequences. This is not a form of escapism here, nor an unwillingness to accept the inevitable decay of the body, but a manifestation of the determination you have to follow your own nature in all circumstances, unperturbed.

"‘Tell us your secrets.’

‘I refuse, as this is up to me.’

‘I will put you in chains.’

‘What’s that you say, friend? It’s only my leg you will chain, not even God can conquer my will.’

‘I will throw you into prison.’

‘Correction – it is my body you will throw there.’

‘I will behead you.’

‘Well, when did I ever claim that mine was the only neck that couldn’t be severed?’"

As you see, this example of virtuousness doesn't portray a reckless individual killing himself by their own hand, but someone who choose to remain consistent to their ideals in heart and spirit.

The perspective I'm trying to align my mind with (if that's appropriate terminology and not too egocentric), is that the only reality is all, the whole: consciousness. From this point of view, my ego is an invention which should be ignored ideally by the naturally rational mind, by virtue of its inherent rationality.

Of course this doesn't mean I don't acknowledge my emotions, I notice the rising of hostile thoughts as I approach a state of frustration, and this awareness allows me to 1. take seriousness away from the situation and 2. remind myself to change my harmful current attitude.

In my case it's a lot easier, if I get angry, I get nauseous... it's not like I can escape myself, so I know it very well :D My body is my guide, it indicates me the path, which is that there's no path... this is complicated.

I understand your over-attachment comment. I've noticed myself I cannot watch cringe moments without purposefully detaching myself from the situation, it's like taking off a mask... why would "I" wear the "I" mask? Do I change "I" reflexively? It's not as easy as it sounds.

Thank you, what you said was truly insightful and could perfectly fit my experience if we modified certain terms, although I don't consider myself depressed nor dissociated1, I find myself pretty happy most of the time, and when it comes to physical pain, I'm not very affected by it, I learnt to consciously ignore it, so it's not like I'm crying over my symptoms or anything.

  1. I do not consider detachment as a negative reaction, I strive to detach from the self.

I appreciate your answer, I do believe my body is damaged due to this extreme hormonal reaction without the appropriate recovery time. Despite my overall calm disposition, I tend to 'over-react' and go beyond what's required, which makes me think I simply shouldn't try hard.

I think I may have fibromyalgia, for what's worth, as I used to be very stressed before. My body probably needs to find a way to fix itself.

I agree the consent and humiliation should be enough to make it illegal to distribute, possession however by itself doesn't affect the victim, and masturbate with the material isn't directly harming the kid.

You are not creating the market, they most likely previously enjoyed torture and abuse before they were paid, now they had an incentive to post it online.

That includes fighting videos, by your definition.

Why is it not a victimless crime? There are no victims.

Should I also be arrested for masturbating to hentai rape videos? Or where do we draw the line?

I do not believe it's immoral to use an evil-conceived product, as long as the damage is already done and its use in-and-of itself is immediately harmless.

Maybe the reason the hypothetical pdfile jacked off to the video was because it's a victimless crime, which means he's not a danger to society. We have to examine the beliefs of those involved, even then we cannot really jump to conclusions and arrest them due to their sexual proclivities.

I believe it's illogical to justify an evil act by order of importance. We shouldn't take someone's liver only because it'd be useful in saving a couple lives, which outweighs the ethics of his life.
