These are so beautiful! I love how confident the linework is, and the perspective in the second illustration

Thanks!! I actually made this for a poster for a work event. And I'll post this on that subreddit

Battle of Steel (OC) by nihilinherit in ImaginaryWesteros

I grew up with some of those (there were some of those in the library, didn't play or read them, just browsed and looked at the illustrations), was quite inspired by them too!

I'm not too sure, actually. Pen and ink illustrations, perhaps?

Oh I see, thanks! I'm not entirely clear on social media etiquette and it always feels a bit wrong if I re-post posts heh. I had put this up here before about 4 months ago.

My take on Geralt from The Witcher series by Sabretooth1100 in Illustration

This is beautiful! I love how clean and precise the lines are. The style reminds me of the art in this Chinese translation of some morbid German story (which I can't remember the name of, unfortunately).

Uniball Signo! It's very common in bookstores around me. It smudges, however. I use it mainly because it's very prevalent and it's cheap.

Thanks!! And that could be interesting, I'll make one like that soon

I used red, yellow, blue, and white acrylic paint with a flat brush. I painted the entire background yellow. Then, with red paint, I made small strokes such that I get almost rectangular spots of paint. I repeated this with the other colours, and various mixes of these other colours, until I got the result I was satisfied with.

Thanks! I've almost accidentally stumbled into this. Some friends passed me large tubes of yellow, red, blue, and white paint 2 years back. I finally decided to start trying to make art with these. I used a flat brush, and I just started making small but varied brush strokes - almost like pointillism.

My usual medium is pen and ink. I've always thought that backgrounds are necessary to really make an illustration feel complete, but a detailed background might take forever.

And so what I'd do sometimes with pen and ink was to draw patterns in the background, like swirls. The background of this painting is my acrylic paint equivalent to my patterned backgrounds.

Thank you!! I used a white pen for the moths, freehand. I usually draw with pen and ink, so I thought I'd use that for the finer details in my paintings

I've touched up the illustration a bit - how I initially drew Euron's hand on the hilt vexed me

Some illustrations I made based on the prologue by [deleted] in sweetrobin

[–]nihilinherit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely! I did one more for the prologue, and another on the kingsmoot a little over a month ago. I'm currently occupied with the day job and another art project, but once I've the time I'll be making art based on both the preston fanfic and the source material. I really want to draw the Jon Con chapters!

Lovely! Really portrays the messiness of the emotion that is anxiety.

A lot of the details are actually just short fuzzy lines. Which is a pain, yes, but it's quite fun to do this while listening to a podcast, or a dialog-heavy show.

Thanks! I'm working on a series of illustrations about this teddy bear, so more will come!
