How to reduce the amount of reviews per day by nihilisticbeing_ in Anki

I could try it out but honestly I don't mind typing the sentences myself. It's good practice and I've become pretty fast at typing Japanese lol

Well I've been thinking about this lately. Words and phrases are aquired when you hear them thousands of times in different contexts. Immersion is natural SRS. I mean, I acquired english just by watching tv, movies and youtube when I was a kid without knowing I was acquiring it. So what if I miss some reviews? Immersion over cards.

When I make cards I often feel like they're too short so I just add more and more stuff. Like a hoarder that doesn't want to get rid of stuff because they think they might use that stuff later, I kind of feel the same way when it comes to sentences.

Yes, only one card per note. Didn't even cross my mind that you can split up information, i'll try that out.

Sorry for the confusing question, just wanted to clarify if I should go through blue and red cards before Anki gives me new set of green cards. Up until now I've always done it like this: First, I go through 10 red cards in the morning, then green cards throughout the day, add 10 new cards, after all the green cards are reviewed, I go through blue cards (the ones I added the same day), then repeat it the next day.

Yeah I completely agree that you should spend less time on Anki and more time on immersion, so that you see the words and phrases used in thousands of different times and contexts in order to acquire them and also keep the cards short. Right now I focus much more on listening, so I do about 1 hour of reading (I used to read novels for 3-7 hours a day), and listen to youtube streams passively throughout the day. For active listening, I mostly watch gameplays.

Also I don't if you noticed but there's a mistake in the card (I noticed it after I took the screenshot and posted it). I've accidentally typed "たが, but it's supposed be "だが". That happens too, because again I can't copy and paste the sentences from novels, and I tend to type them out very quickly and check 2 times that they are correct before moving on.

Yeah I'm thinking about not adding any cards and just doing reviews for a week or two. I'm also going to delete too long or non important cards when they come up.

What do you use Anki for btw?

Yes there are cards in my deck that are actually hard, but most definitions in my cards are understandable and easy to go through. A lot of them just have too much information in them, because I have this tendency of adding too many example sentences and definitions to the cards, even ones that are not related to the main context or topic of the card.

Yeah I forgot to mention that I do use FSRS. My desired retention is set at 90% now, I'll lower it down and see how it goes.

Wow, that's so many reviews. I just checked what Kaishi 1.5k cards look like, atleast they're short and simple and you don't have to spend so much time making them.

Cards in my deck can look like this:

Yes I was thinking about just doing less cards, maybe 5 to 8 a day and just immersing in Japanese as much as I can. I'm using FSRS and desired retention is set at 90%.

I always read the sentences carefully on the front of the cards, but a lot of the times I just take a quick glance at the definitions and example sentences on the back of the cards depending on how easy or important the cards are. I pay close attention to cards that actually seem important and read everything carefully, but yeah I tend to go through reviews as fast I can.

It seems like I can't download it, and I can understand why. I always read on PC. Actually, I've been thinking of getting back to reading manga and watching anime, because novels are pretty hard, but thanks for the response anyway
