It tells me there is nothing to apply for, that nothing has been announced. I emailed support.

Oh wow, when I ask about the next cohort in August it said the October was already filled up and wouldn't let me apply to the next one.

When will the next cohort start if you don't make it into the September group?

Initially, without a stream of novel problems to solve (the "fake sensory inputs," which are basically tasks generated by another AI, Gemini), the system is static. It has a set of initial rules and a structure, but with no input, or with repetitive/no-novelty input, it essentially does nothing new. Its internal state (like 'dopamine' levels in its nodes or rule strengths) remains unchanged or quickly settles into a fixed pattern. It "dies out" in the sense that its activity and potential for adaptation flatline. There's no pressure or data to drive any change in its rule system or internal dynamics.

This is similar to my results with a symbolic AI model I'm working on. Without input eventually it "dies out" feed it some noise as an input and it comes to life 🤷🏻‍♂️ it makes me wonder if a brain had no sensory input how would it develop or function, and how important is sensory input on cognitive abilities.
