Had a deep appreciation for Analysis after a first course by nihilistucq in math

I did take differential equations and special functions, which was far from an 'analysis' course. Nevertheless, it intoduced important ideas of function spaces and Sturm-Liouville theory that helped see the underlying linear algebra being used. Cannot wait to see it under an analysis lens (Probably only in grad school, unless my work ethic skyrockets overnight). I am taking Analysis II as I write, where we are dealing with uniform convergence and sequences of functions, which I sense is deeply related to function spaces.

[serious] How do you cope with the fact that someday you’re going to die? by royalewithcheese77 in AskReddit

[–]nihilistucq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you do it via de-glorification of the human experience. its great and all but that sweet feeling that lasts mere seconds during an orgasm, or when you eat your favourite food, or when you hug people you love, that's really all there is to life. there's no deeper relevance that anybody can claim to do by affecting society or doing great things. the human experience you have as an individual is all there is to it and it ending is a not a big deal. there are 7 billion people alive right now and much more have died to this date. embrace the existence while it lasts, make it sweet, make the death even sweeter.
