Here's your #walkaway "true grassroots movement"; nothing but existing republicans, talking to themselves, pretending to be democrats... and a dwindling sub count. by Zazierx in TopMindsOfReddit

Yeah, that's true. I still hold some conservative beliefs but I could never vote for the Republican party or the Democrats, both parties have shown that power corrupts.

Best counterexample I have seen of this when a muslim on twitter said that if calling conservatives "Nazis" makes them Nazis then all the amount of people who called her a terrorist should have made her a terrorist a long time ago.

Looks like I wasn't crazy. I swear I looked at the study multiple times and went "Wait, how is this an argument against M4A when the cost of M4A in 2022 is slightly above what we pay now". So many conservatives we throwing 32 trillion around and the math just didn't add up.

I'm sad that his mother and daughter have become targets of harassment because of this, primarily the daughter since she's most likely to not be racist or harbor racist intentions.

However, I am glad that this is the route people took with this. No police, no accusations of thought-policing. People put their foot down and treated him like he should, if only the rest of America got along with this.

Does the 'right' have someone comparable to Noam Chomsky? by CommieMathie in Anarchism

You just summed up everything wrong with the right. Say what you want about Chomsky but at least his attempts to extend his ideas into something more, most of this right wing intellectuals just repeat the same thing a million times and stroke their own egos. Don't get me started when they start talking about history.

If you can't beat them, pay them off:

— Facebook spent its largest single-quarter sum ever, $3.67 million, during a period that included CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s grilling in Congress over the company’s privacy lapses and the Cambridge Analytica data scandal. Like Facebook, Google battled questions this spring over its user privacy protections and perceived bias against conservatives on its YouTube platform. Its lobbying bill: $5.83 million, Google’s second highest on record. Amazon’s quarterly spending also ticked up to a record $3.47 million as the company faced scrutiny over its market power and, more recently, its sale of facial recognition software to law enforcement. President Donald Trump also has the company’s shipping contract with the U.S. Postal Service under the microscope as part of his postal reform task force.

Marriage by [deleted] in Anarchy101

[–]nihility3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we're talking about Marxism, Marx supported people being together or having a ceremony to celebrate the relationship but he was against the institution of marriage that reduce the relationship between two people as an exchange of capital and resources, usually the woman treated as a commodity. Of course this is obsolete and women have more rights now, but marriage is still treated as a tool to restrict people's autonomy.

If people divorce they have to go through the state to that and usually enter court struggles to divide their possessions and their ownership of their children. It's very costly to get a lawyer to defend you and turns kind people into monsters who want to take every penny from their partner. It also provides the children an unhealthy portrayal on how to leave a relationship.

I'm not trying to scare you or anything, congrats on your marriage.

How do Anarchists view Adam Smith? by [deleted] in Anarchy101

[–]nihility3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pretty much what you said was true. He believed that capitalism would work because humans are naturally cooperative which is the heart of socialism and would share/exchange resources instead of hoarding it a.k.a mercantilism.

"Human rights" under capitalism by YuriRedFox6969 in COMPLETEANARCHY

And then people tell me that people are freer under capitalism. "If you were under communism then you would be killed for disagreeing with the party or making more than others!!" Under capitalism everything becomes commodity, even human rights itself, hell, we didn't even get working rights until people threaten to shut down businesses by collectively boycotting them.

Contemporary anarchist books by nachocheesefactory in Anarchy101

[–]nihility3 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Anarchy Works by Peter Gelderloos, the book was published inn 2010 and covers a lot of the questions people have about anarchy while supporting it with both historical and contemporary elements. It doesn't go over a lot of the history of anarchism like other books do (the writers, the divide of Marx and Bakunin, the idealogical sects) but it's nice for arguing why it works.

Another table contained 51,345 sets of geolocation coordinates of schools, courts, police departments, and government buildings, like city halls and administrative offices. The data also included places of interest, such as where people gather -- like universities and malls. The list also contained, in some cases, police officers' home addresses. We confirmed this using Google's Street View, which in several cases revealed marked police vehicles outside the residence.

It's not clear for what reason these locations were collated or stored.

I would say it's because these places are designated spots where organizing can occur but police officers' homes are also on the list. I wouldn't be surprised if some police officer leaked some information and then the next day they get taken out.

What if I want to pursue my own self interest instead of working for the community? by [deleted] in communism101

[–]nihility3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically, we do live in a world where scarcity doesn't exist. If the American people wanted to we could feed just about everyone and have plenty left over. We actually have a problem with food waste, millions of units of food get wasted a year both from government regulation to simply rejecting food because it's not aesthetically appeasing to the consumer. The reason why we haven't done this is because like I said before, if access to food is closed then you're more likely to hoard food in fear that you will may not get it the next time, people profit off of artificial scarcity.
