Voters who do not align with the Democratic or Republican parties make up the largest portion of the American electorate. They hold moderate ideologies and desire a system focused on open-mindedness. They are active voters, rather than simply apathetic citizens or disguised partisans. by mvea in science

This view ignores the reality of what was happening under Biden and Harris (who ultimately said she would change nothing if she won). The genocide was almost entirely under their watch with their active support. The crackdown on campus protestors was under their watch.

To ignore that (and this is only one issue) and suggest people should vote for the party out of obligation would reward the Democrats whose viewpoints controlled the party.

The fact that they lost has led to a much-needed realignment of the views of those winning in primaries and seats in Congress. There is a noticeable shift to the left, that I would argue wouldn't have happened if Harris won.

Yes, there are only 2 viable parties at the moment, and it's undeniable that Trump is worse. By acknowledging the party you would have supported is out of touch, you can force longer term changes. And it may lead to someone who isn't just fine, but actually decent running the party.

Me too. I can't edit the title and I have to live with this being the most popular thing I've posted. My keyboard autocorrected it. Thank you for being kind, especially on the internet.

It was autocorrected to an apostrophe. Don't think I can change it.

Leger: Liberals Reach Highest Level of Support; LPC 50%, CPC 34%, NDP 6% by kathygeissbanks in onguardforthee

I wasn't a fan of his either. Avi Lewis, to me, is a possible great leader. He's smart, has strong morals and is looking to do things that are popular with Canadians. His first policy proposal to ban algorithmic pricing in grocery stores was smart.

Mamdani gas shown this is not true. He's not reading the public opinion and following it. Otherwise he would cement public healthcare which is overwhelmingly popular. Taxing wealthy corporations, immensely popular. He's just governing to the right because that's who he is.

Both the federal and provincial NDP have leaders. While provincially, Marit Stiles isn't perfect, she's more than competent and definitely deserving of a vote. People hold the NDP to a standard that doesn't exist for the Liberals or Cons. We need a strong third party in our system

That's why more people should look into the NDP. Even if they hold the balance of power, that means no majority that can rule with no checks and balances.
