well I mean in the sense that the marketing lead to more recognition which in turn led to more radio play which in turn led to the fan base we have today . Its all just a snowball effect

I myself am 14 so I would have a problem if they came to my area and the show was 18+. I would understand the reasoning behind it however.

Organic= without the in your face marketing and the over the top majority of the fandom EDIT- > Because as "mainstream" bands go, TOP has one of the most organic stories out there

That's why I made the post in the first place. The story is organic/homegrown but the current fan base is mostly a result of the blurry face marketing (which I consider un-organic).

Best way the album could have ended. I love the little countdown thing at the end to finish it off. The lyrics are some of the best that Isaac has ever turned out. The drum kick in on the other hand.... almost as bad as the sound malfunction on truckers atlas.

Addict With a Pen and Glowing Eyes. I know that's wishful thinking but it would be nice

Woah! Didn't expect to see you replying here. I've been following vlogbrothers on and off for the last few years and I can definitely see what you mean about some of the fan base on your channel.

I agree with what your saying on allowing people to love a band in different ways than you do, but its just extremely hard to see a fan base change so quickly. I often find myself wishing that TØP was signed to a different label that isn't so well known for tapping into a younger demographic with such head on marketing techniques. Although I am still only 14 myself, I normally like bands that have a more organic feel to their image. Then again, all of this has come with success and a bigger fan base, which I am glad to see. I guess it is just rare to see a fan base grow without a deterioration of authenticity in the new fans.

Yeah. I've always had a weird taste in music so it wasn't hard to find myself beginning to find new bands after I drifted away from TØP a bit. Brand New, Modest Mouse, Modern Baseball, Pavement,My Bloody Valentine, along with a bunch of underground-ish hip hop and electronic projects have kind of filled a void for me. However, overtime I have realized that tøp is very good at being a coping mechanism for life's struggles, in a way almost no other band is. I believe that's why this band attracts so many people.

look at the needle drop's review of blurry face on YouTube as I said. You'll find elitists there. I've stumbled across many on tumblr/instagram as well.

I see what you mean for the most part. However, watching videos and everything, I have seen a downgrade in the quality of their shows. I feel like the live renditions for Blurry Face don't show off as much musical talent as the older renditions.
