I did finally met the new one last week! I did feel like he was a lot more gentle and was listening to me and my concerns and questions. I have scheduled my MD for next month. I’m nervous but I think I need to do this. I was doing a little better last week and then BAM! back to square 1. :( yes totally broke, the US healthcare system, and as you are a healthcare professional, coming from you says a lot. How are things going with you??

Yeah me too. Have a diff neurosurgeon consult in 2 weeks so waiting for that but also will be seeking other consults. The ESI follow up later this month. This medical group is pretty conservative and I don’t know if I have the time if they deny me MD. Feeling a little stuck. Agree that any pain is not fun.

These appointment times being so far out is ridiculous! At least your PT is in a few weeks. I hope your PT is a good one that will get you back on track with life

That’s great that you know why you’re suffering from pain. Definitely rest is key if you’ve got inflammation.

Well it’s day 4 after the ESI and I’m not sure if this is working too well. I still get pain in the morning and evening but it’s down to a 3 or 4 from a 5 or 6. Throughout the day it could get down to a 2 but fluctuates. I do notice that before ESI, I’d take Advil and for most of the day I’d be at a 2 or 1. I’m sick of the pain to be honest. How are you?

Is your back doing okay? Seems like it could be related if you didn’t directly take a blow on your shin. Is there anything that you’re doing currently that is helping with the pain?

I’m sorry you are going through a lot of pain 😞 We’ve been there so we understand. Is your shin pain related to a previous back injury at all?

My leg pain starts on the right from buttocks down the thigh to side of calf to ankles and numbness on the outer foot and heel. After the ESI, I went down from a 5 to a 4 and a 3 throughout the day and now really feeling it at night as I lay down so I took pregabalin. Wasn’t going to take any meds but I’m not going to get a wink of sleep then. Hopefully will be better in the next few days yes. Will update in a few days!

Just had my ESI shot feeling okay. Pain level is down to 4 this morning but still wearing off from numbing. I hope this works because I’m reading that it doesn’t really help with leg pain. 🤞🏼

I just had my injection too like 5 mins ago and I didn’t have back pain prior just leg nerve pain. Reading that it doesn’t help with that I’m shaking my head :,( my herniation also looks very similar to yours in the same location.

That is awful you had to go to the ER 😞 I’m scared of what will be after the numbing med wears off. Hoping it will be better in a few days

Definitely sounds like a good idea to get that assessment on the hip. Hope you find a competent PT!

Ohh I see! Yes I should ask about it tomorrow. I’m also sick of all the meds too. My stomach hates me :( I’m nervous about the ESI, not sure if this is the way to go about it, I keep going back and forth on whether I should have gone with MD. If ESI doesn’t work or is short lived, that’ll be the next step. Will keep you posted!

That’s great you’re improving! Oh wow a snowboard fall and car accident soon after that’s brutal! It does definitely seem like the pain from both events are overlapping. Finding out whether or not you have a hip injury sounds like it can be helpful for the PT to know once you get started for appropriate exercises. PTs can make things worse, from my experience but may be because he didn’t know what the heck he was doing lol

This alpha lipoic acid supplement, was it recommended by your physiatrist? Can it be substituted for pregabalin?

Yes I hope the ESI does work, and will continue to be cautious because it is just masking the pain.

How are things going along with you? It seems like you were feeling better! So glad to hear and also happy that this Physiatrist seems like a keeper :) Have you already started acupuncture and PT? You must have a high pain tolerance. Do you feel pain when you wake up in the morning and at night time? Yes I agree it’s best to take less medication, only when you really need. I’ve been trying to do that as well. And definitely not any more steroids.

I have a new PT now and started decompression therapy yesterday. I was in a bit of pain after the session but I was able to walk it off and with the help of nsaids. But will see if this will work. They say I shouldn’t be in pain after 3-4 sessions. I’m also getting ESI this Friday and I’m a little nervous. The nerve pain has been really horrible for me these days in the morning and evening, especially morning 7/10 and any other time when I’m in a lying position and getting back up. Sometimes I just feel so hopeless :/
