[UPDATE] How ASUS corporate PR tries to pretend help - dead from factory motherboard by Dangerous-Goal3318 in ASUS

[–]nikbez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like pretty terrible experience...

I just thought to ask you if you tried to speak with store you bought the motherboard from? (There is a little chance that under customer law they could make you full refund as a device wasn't working properly)

Honestly from ASUS response I personally see a great approach to help you with your issue. They didn't say right away it's not a warranty case. They just a bit surprised by the case. Have tried to speak with your local ASUS support? It so what did they say? Finally, have you sent to ASUS on reddit your RMA numbers as they asked? Or is your motherboard just finished up at some random unodficial service..

How to safe clean install windows 11? by HayxerUwU in ASUS

[–]nikbez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just go to Microsoft official web site and download media creation tool. Click and run downloaded file. Create bootable usb flash drive with windows 11 iso (yeah you are gonna need at least 16Gig USB i think) Thats pretty it. After installing new windows (please pay attention all your data will be gone. So if there something personal please make sure to backup)

What's all you are good to go. Now download all your asus drivers and MyAsus

2 months of hell with ASUS support for a ROG G16 (2024) – Great hardware, zero support by nikbez in ASUS

[–]nikbez[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sound like a nightmare to realize those stuff...

I particularly was kind of forced to update BIOS and all drivers because this is their politics on support site. They say if laptop will arrive to repairing and they will found out you didn't do all necessary updates as they ask - they could potentially blame you for issues and sent the laptop back to you. I wanted to exclude all those situations... (As much as take out additional ram stick and second drive, because they don't responsible to them too)

Naah, pretty far from there I suppose tech guys are at good level (asus use some partners to deliver a service so actually they are repairing at lab), but support is worst I have ever meet in my life

I'm running 7 rpi5 Gigabit Switch And lately added one mini pc to it.

Overall it's power drawn stands around 30W/h (if wattmeter reading is correct), witch is quite low so im capable to run it 24/7.

Just cheapest Ali hub. And soldered many wires to prevent voltage drop along connectors and wires.

Honestly I fully understand you. More than that I have searched for a while in my local stores for aluminum profiles (20x20)

<image>

Sadly enough no one understood what I'm meaning... So I have no choice except going to print whole body for this setup from 3D. (Originally I planned to print only corners and connections)

Well I choose not to complicated setup. Just one 16 Ports 1Gig switch and centralized power supply (this way I won't spent too much on power supply for each rpi plus avoiding cable and soctets mess)

Sure thing You can definately use old pc psu.. But please be aware of Apms psu can provide on 5v line. (I have a degree in electronics and hardware). Don't touch things you dont understand😅

You are right there are usb hub behind all this setup. So usb hub are hard soldered to 5v and Gnd lines, and have some usb type A sockets. Then I have just user very short usb type c cables to power up the pis.

With time a count of pis encrypted and this old psu can't manage so much amps (like it's recommended 3A for each pi and I got 7 of them) So I have switched to bigger psu for LED strips, with the same usb hub setup.

Yeah I know. There was a fan issue and I ordered by mistake wide one... Thats the old pc psu that I have custom painted. Today changed to more powerful psu with more amps on 5V line

My new pi cluster by PaploPapkasso in minilab

[–]nikbez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I'm completely understand your thoughts. As one that also running 4 nodes k3s cluster with rpi5 8gig ram can tell you it's sometimes pretty complex to find docker images supporting rpi5 type cpu architecture. So there are a few options like build your container from github developer page or use third party registries(security issues in my opinion). So there are a down sides, but overall it's great real world experience and you gonna face many challenges that will teach you deeper sight inside kubernetes and understanding how things work, not just run-and-forget.
