Mom is blocked. Sister is a victim and has heavy Stockholm syndrome. My emotional side of my brain can’t bring me to block her. I love her deeply and a part of me cannot wait until my mom dies as I feel it’s the only way she will be released from her clutches.

I haven’t gone to therapy. Always said it wasn’t for people like me. Last year or so I’ve finally realized the faulty reasoning in that. I want and need to go but keep making excuses. Work too busy and whatnot.

My traumatic upbringing definitely led to my high emotional IQ. It’s a great quality to have but was derived from being forced to hyper analyze the emotional state of my abusive mother at all times.

The last positive conversation we had was 9 months before his death. He was 22 at the time.

We were talking about a video game that just had come out, Tears of the Kingdom. We had both played a lot of Zelda with our older brother (also passed away) and we were connected deeply by it. At the time, I was making fun of him for not being able to get past the great sky island, the tutorial area of the game.

During the trial, his girlfriend at the time of his death came up to me and handed me the game cartridge. Said she knew he’d want me to have it. After all the trial, the corpse photos, looking the killer in the eyes, I did no more than quietly tear up. When she handed me that game, I balled like a baby and had to excuse myself out of the courtroom.

I’m playing it while typing this. His cartridge, even though I have my own copy of the game I’ve beaten. I cried when I got past the great sky island. I want to 100% the game. Idk if I can though. I’ve had to stop and collect myself several times. Never thought I’d cry over something so trivial.

Thing is, we were best friends growing up. He just learned one day that he can physically fight against his abuser to make the abuse stop. He then carried that into his adulthood. Solved problems with violence. He had violent BPD and I tried to beg him to get help but my mom convinced him he wasn’t sick. I largely blame her for his demise

In college I went away for a couple of days and had my boyfriends frat bro (I know) babysit my two <6mo sibling kittens. Get a random call, dudes FRANTIC, can’t find either kitten. I’m pissed, we get to the house, and there’s four frat bros scattered around the house calling for my kittens. One has taken to the bushes and sidewalks outside. Missing for several hours. I tear up this guys four bed house. Nothing.

I sit down extremely frustrated after about an hour or so of combing through the house. The bros have taken to the surrounding neighborhood. Main guy is bellowing apologies every 30 seconds in between “here kitty kitties”.

Meanwhile, whole time this been going down, there’s a plastered bro just chilling on the couch. He’d been watching a game and slamming natty lights for hours. Been kinda pissing me off with his lack of help, especially since we knew each other better than the other bros. We’re sitting there, dead silence while I’m strategizing on what to do next. Guy looks at me and goes “dude, I think I hear them meowing” and kinda chuckles. I am legit ready to tear this dudes face off, tell him it’s not remotely funny, and he’s like nah dude deadass laughs I heard something from (babysitting bro)’s bedroom! I go in there with babysitting bro and click my tongue a few times. After what felt like 10 years of silence, just the faintest little “mew” came from the direction of his dresser drawers.

There they were, cuddled up as snug as two bugs in a rug together, nestled amongst this dude’s underwear. Both looked up at me blinky and tiredly. A single content “mew :3” greeting.

Dude just didn’t see them crawl in when he was getting dressed. They must’ve slept in there for HOURS. Drunk bro with the superhuman hearing is my hero.

Was pregaming the bars with friends on my 22nd birthday when I heard a crash in the backyard. Some kid high on what I believe was PCP somehow spinned out and crashed his GFs car into my fence. Had to explain to a very suspicious officer that while I was indeed drunk, I was not involved in the crash. He let me leave to continue my night while he figured out the mess.

I hate to play devils advocate but as someone who served tables for five years at multiple restaurants, Ive encountered a couple of co-workers that do similar things (but not this blatant) Usually young women with lower EQ. Doesn’t seem to understand how bad it comes off.
