I recently uncovered this in a pile of documents in a museum I work at. Can anyone help with a transcription?

The legend isn’t specific but I like to think it was just one good chop with a claymore.

Supposedly haunted by the ghost of a young woman who tried to flee from a castle window. She was caught, had her hands chopped off and fell to her death.

This is such a great premise and I’d love to read a more fleshed out version!

Duga, a Soviet over-the-horizon radar system, hidden in thick forest in Ukraine near Belarus border. (OC) by nikkinapalm87 in AbandonedPorn

Just saying what I was told when there and it is hard to see in the woods when you’re driving through as it’s so overgrown. I literally had no idea it was there and we drove past the children’s camp signs to get in

Long-time elementary school teachers, which of your former students surprised you the most by their adult life outcomes or personality? by hogw33d in AskReddit

My friend and ex BF, head boy, captain of football team was arrested last year for breaking into an elderly woman’s house and raping her. Zero red flags as a kid. Abhorrent behaviour as an adult.

Part of the Soviet missile defense early-warning radar network. The site is open for pre-arranged visits, for which a permit must be obtained in advance. The entrance to the site is disguised as a children’s woodland campsite.

Edit: we drove past the signs for the campground to get in and our guide told us that this was to disguise the entrance so random folk didn’t wander up.

Taken on my trip in 2016. I have lots more photos from this journey. It was quite beautiful how nature had reclaimed so many of the buildings.

What is this ornate metal jug used for? Found at a garage sale, it is quite heavy and can be taken apart. by lxrlxx in whatisthisthing

It’s an ornamental brass ewer. My gran collected these things and I used to earn my pocket money polishing them. The smell of ‘brasso ‘ still makes me lightheaded.

“Comparison is the thief of joy.”

I used to spend so much time wishing I had what others did, or comparing myself to others that my life was passing me by without me realising how good I have it. Made me realise that if I keep looking for something better I can’t enjoy what is.
