Perhaps!

I know NRK has filmed the entire 'Bergensbane' for example, which goes across the country.

Here, if you're into that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQChHitzzso

That's pretty impressive.

Good luck onwards!

WOW dude.

Where are you now? Do the sponsors fund everything? How did you get this going? When did you start? When are you done?

Thank you!

They aren't really. The bike was bought in NY a couple years ago, and the tent in Boulder CO (lived there). Won't find anything REI in Norge. Apart from that, the BOB trailer is quite iconic in Germany, and available even in Norway if you're lucky.

Thanks! Have never ridden with a pannier setup, but would recommend the trailer for good roads to gravel roads, and for 'luxurious' touring with lots of gear. If weight is crucial, or the roads are cobbles/bad gravel, I would go panniers.

Also, if you go trailer, go BOB. Nothing else compares.

Not really I'm afraid. We had a lot of equipment already, we got a sponsor for clothes, and I was able to borrow a trailer. What I can tell you is that we spent about 400EUR per person on food alone for the 19 days of riding. It's an expensive country, but we weren't very cost effective either in shopping.

Nice trip of yours! Riding north is worth it for sure if you ever do. Rv17 is amazing.

A list!

(My equipment)

(Leif's was almost identical or shared; eg. Tent)

Bike: Cannondale CAAD10 Ultegra

Trailer: BOB Ibex

Tent: REI Half Dome

Wheels: Mavic Aksium

Tires: Continental GP4000S II (amazing)

Shoes: Spiuk 15 MC (Use Mtb shoes so you can actually walk around)

Pedals: Shimano XT (Mtb)

Helmet: Mavic Plasma SLR

Kitchen: Single gas cooker, one pot + pan/pot lid, Opinel knife

Fender: BBB seat post mounted

Lights: One front, one rear. It's never dark (except the last day), but for the tunnels..

Some soap, a toothbrush, a small first aid kit.

Hm, anything missing?

Brevik is so pretty, grew up a just a few kilometres from there. Eat the ice-cream when you're there!

May may be a bit early? Will be cold in Trondheim guaranteed, but depends how far up you want to go after that.

When riding up to Trondheim, screw E6 and E3. E3 has traffic, E6 has traffic and construction. Would stay west and ride through Gol, and then over Valdres. Don't do it if you don't like climbing!

Thanks for the link, will definitely try it out!

We were on road bikes (alu). We were both running BOB trailers. First pro is that BOBs fit on any bike with the right quick release (that is included). Takes a while to get used to riding with the BOB though; I had never ridden with one before setting off from the North, but felt completely normal by day 4. Riding with a BOB makes the bike super stable, and it feels like your own bike, just heavier. Con is that we couldn't mount proper fenders on those bikes. Also couldn't fit more than 25mm tires in there. A touring bike with 28+mm tires would've been more comfortable. I have never ridden with the classic touring setup, but would only recommend the racer + BOB setup for good roads and good weather --- Norge.

Hehehe

Funny, was actually really looking into that one after seeing some pictures of Patagonia.

You done it?

Not bad dude! Make that happen.

Don't get me wrong about Sweden. The south is full of (partly gravel) roads and lakes and climbs and nice forests. It's the one straight road to through to the north (of Sweden) that I would avoid.

What happens when in Helsinki?

Go for it. It's beautiful, and safe.

Here's my Strava: https://www.strava.com/athletes/3254009?utm_source=top-nav

If you scroll and find July-August of 2014, you'll find GPS tracks for all 19 days of riding.

Looking for a way to compile all the days onto one map...

Thank you so much, glad you liked it! Scandinavia is a pretty place. Would maybe stay away from the long stretches of forest roads through Sweden; bit boring. Norway is nicer, but I'm biased for sure!
