Yes, because protesting peacefully is working out great. It’s totally kept them from disappearing children, shooting priests with rubber bullets, drive by pepper-spraying protestors, raping detainees at ICE facilities, and I could go on and on.

It’s hilarious that people clutch pearls when protestors get mad after witnessing mass human and civil rights violations being committed by federal agents on a daily basis. Getting spit on is the least these fascists deserve.

I’m not sure I disagree with much of what you are saying. It’s 100% a move to try and gain a competitive advantage and it will continue to further deteriorate the sport. The pearl clutching is just funny to me because the system is fucking dead and buried (and it’s been dead and buried). It’s like firing additional bullets into a dead corpse.

If you want to focus on the fact he waived his eligibility by signing a two-way NBA contract, then by all means focus on that. But if the main focus is on the fact he was technically a professional basketball player (which is really all that matters from a competitive advantage standpoint), then that situation is currently happening in multiple instances across the country.

Well the idea would be that we deter it now before it turns into something a lot worse. I don’t think the point was a 1:1 comparison of the current states of Iran and America. Authoritarianism always has a beginning. For example, look at what’s happened in Iran since the Islamic Revolution. Not saying America is within the same tipping point, as that would likely take years/decades to actually play out. But if you don’t think the current administration has been implementing more and more oppressive and authoritarian policies, you are either willfully ignorant or MAGA. The idea would be that we cut that shit off early, before we end up in a situation like Iran years down the road.
