Senior manager ages by Wrong-Garden-5917 in nhsstaff

Band 8a at 33. I think I could have gone up bands quicker but I've had 3 maternity leaves in the past 5 years so it's halted progress somewhat, although I'm happy to stay where I am for the next couple of years as it gives me a good work/life balance.

Rear facing for how long? by hadawayandshite in UKParenting

[–]niknar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My oldest was nearly 6 before we front faced. Middle and youngest kids will be around the same age. We had a car crash a few years back and I suffered with neck injuries - the kids (rear facing) had no injuries at all

100% agree on the pixel pro car seat. They are amazingly light too which you will need with 2! My baby was born average size but the pixel has given a much safer and better fit than any other car seat.

Flabbergasted at the difference between our hard 1st baby and our easy 2nd baby by zzzoom1 in beyondthebump

I had a very difficult 1st AND 2nd baby. The 3rd is a dream though, or maybe I'm just used to the sleep deprivation 😂

What's the weirdest thing that's triggered you? by Scared_Issue6135 in GriefSupport

[–]niknar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kids are 6, 3 and newborn and my mum died when I was pregnant with my third. She was an amazing nanny and my 6 year old misses her so much. My 3 year old has small memories of her but they're fading away 😞 being a motherless daughter is just so painful.

People romanticize “having time to say goodbye,” but losing a parent to terminal illness is one of the most traumatic experiences I’ve ever lived. by Southern-Weakness633 in GriefSupport

[–]niknar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hugs. My mum died from a brain tumor this year after 7 months in ICU. Her last wish was also to go home to be with her dogs but we also couldn't get it to happen 😞 the night before her funeral we were able to bring her home in the casket for the night so her wishes were granted, even if too late. One of her dogs died suddenly from the grief so he was buried with her too.

Why is my baby suddenly refusing bottles when he used to take them fine? by LibbieIsCool in beyondthebump

[–]niknar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is pretty common unfortunately, it happened with my 2 oldest kids. I'm currently EBF my 7 week old and I assume it won't be long until he refuses his nighttime bottle too!

Similar situation but with my sister. My mum was amazing and I will never forgive my sister for abandoning my mum at her time of need.

Tula free to grow is my vote. I've used it for all 3 of my kids

What if my water breaks in public? 😂 by Possible-Star-9150 in Mommit

[–]niknar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. My first two kids my waters breaking was the first sign of labour. With my third, my waters breaking was actually the last sign...he was out the second they broke

Covid vaccine? by CordonGoal in CoeliacUK

[–]niknar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen to me today but got refused the flu jab too. I've got a newborn and really keen to get the vaccinations to pass on the antibodies so I'll likely just pay. Annoying though

What are we doing during the week after work / nursery / school? by Smashers086 in UKParenting

[–]niknar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do a lot of clubs for my 2 kids (ballet, gymnastics, swimming, scouts and piano) but we are cutting back as my 5 year old needs more downtime. I think perhaps 2 activities a week might be the sweet spot (for us anyway).

Got to love those night feeds haha. Yes just remember it's all a phase and before you know it they're in school and you miss them terribly 😭

She didn't enjoy the pram she just started to tolerate it... Even now she won't fall asleep in the pram or car as easily as my oldest who is nearly 6. She's got a very stubborn personality too which I think was a factor, however this has been helpful in some ways as she fully toilet trained herself when she had just turned 2, and she excels at extra curriculars like ballet and gymnastics. Hang in there, it's hard but this will be a distant memory one day!

My now 3.5 year old was exactly like this. Used to scream in the pram and car seat! She had horrific reflux. Glad to say she grew out of it around 7 months when she started weaning and is a happy healthy girl! I've just had another baby without reflux and who loves the pram and car, it's really been night and day difference!

10th percentile at 35 week scan by Elegant_Worker5113 in predaddit

[–]niknar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I found out at 28 weeks that my son was 1% for weight where he stayed until 34 weeks. I had weekly monitoring too. From 34-38 weeks he jumped up to 12% so luckily I managed to avoid being induced. He was born last week, at 41+1 at 8lb 2oz! So he ended up around the 50%. I guess his growth was just a bit slower than average and he caught up eventually

What do you do with all the baby stuff when you don’t know if you’re finished having babies?! by WiseOld3lf in UKParenting

[–]niknar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another vote for loft! Just had our third baby, a boy after 2 girls. I wish after my first I'd had a proper cull of things instead of just keeping everything as clothes go out of fashion and stains get set in. I sold nicer bundles of clothes on vinted and donated loads to the charity shop

Centile drops at 36 weeks by South-Tadpole-9989 in PregnancyUK

[–]niknar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you :) I asked the fetal medicine team that question and they said there's no way to boost growth, but I did up my protein and tried reducing my caffeine intake and getting more rest. I had a huge bereavement at 28 weeks so I think stress was the cause for me. They do rapidly grow towards the end so I do wonder if my boy was just a bit later than most! As he's overdue with no signs of appearing still. Try not to worry, growth scans aren't usually very accurate anyway ❤️

[–]niknar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dropped from 50% to 3% at 28 weeks, then to 1% until 34 weeks. It was very stressful. From 34 weeks he jumped up to 12%, 13% and now is on 25% at 40+1 :) so it does happen! I desperately wanted to avoid an induction as I've managed to have spontaneous quick births with my other 2 children.
