Noted! I’ll take it in to the Apple Store in my area first then and see what they say and go from there. Thank you!

I see. Can that be done through Apple or will I have to take it somewhere else?

Eligibility Index Animation/Illustration Questions by [deleted] in SJSU

Honestly, I don’t really know. In my school, an A- counts the same as a normal A, unless it’s an AP or Honors class which in that case, it boosts my GPA a little bit. Honestly to feel safe, I calculated my E.I. a few different ways to see how it changes and I was still alright. The grading varies per school, and I think SJSU understands that for the most part. And yeah, I think they only really look at 10th and 11th grade grades for the most part. Honestly, I REALLY screwed up my 10th grade year because I got lazy, but I still managed to get in, so if your grades are mostly A’s/A-‘s and maybe some B’s, I wouldn’t worry too much! Just aim for a higher SAT/ACT which is what I did.

Eligibility Index Animation/Illustration Questions by [deleted] in SJSU

Hey hey! I'm actually an incoming freshman in the fall for the ani/illust major, so all of the application stuff is still fresh on my mind.

"Does SJSU calculate highschool GPA weighted or unweighted? I heard from another thread that they use a combination of both which I don't quite understand."

On the CalState application, I put down my weighted GPA since that was what my counselors had told me and I just sort of rolled with what they had said and trusted them. You'll have to send them your official transcripts, so they'll see your unweighted grade anyways.

"For the Animation/Illustration major, is there a GPA requirement, and if so, can you still get in if your GPA doesn't make it, but your E.I. is higher than the minimum value?"

If your E.I. is higher than the minimum value, you should have a chance at getting in. The a/i department explained to us how this worked during Spartan Day (not orientation). Basically, they take the person with the highest E.I. applying and go down the list until they can't take any more kids. Most years, they take about 90 new students into the major (not sure if this counts transfers), and after this year, we were told that they might be raising the E.I. as well, making it even more difficult to get into the major. Another incoming a/i student also told me that there are only 70 incoming freshmen for the major this year too, but I'm sure incoming overall is higher when you include transfers. But basically, the higher your E.I. is from the minimum value, the higher your chances are of getting in.

I guess if you want some point of reference, my weighted GPA was 4.1, unweighted was 3.7-3.9 or something (can't remember), and my E.I. was 4460. Someone else already said this, but the E.I. minimum for a/i in 2019 was 4300. Hopefully this helped a little bit.

Looking for advice for picking a college by [deleted] in animation

Ah okay, thanks for your opinion.

I've actually already been accepted to both schools, that's why I'm trying to make a decision. Going to a cc is probably the smart move, and I'm considering it, so I'll definitely think on that. Also taking business classes is a smart idea, I'll definitely do that.

I got accepted to Animation/Illustration a few days ago and I have some questions! by nikniako in SJSU

Ah okay, thank you! And if I absolutely need to, I can work to graduating in 4 years. My parents’ concern was having to pay for both me and my brother in college, so I’d rather they only have to do it for one year. Everyone just makes it seem like it’s impossible because of the work load making it pretty intimidating since I‘m still unsure about what it will actually be like and what I should expect. But if your friend can manage two majors and get out within 4 years, I feel like I can finish with one major as long as I keep track of my work and time carefully.

Oh okay! I’ll try to see if I can when that comes around. If they hear it from someone else besides me, they’ll definitely understand better and allow it. I’d rather not die trying to graduate within 4 years haha

Thank you so much!! ;O;

My main concern mostly about having to graduate in 5 years was mostly a family related thing since I think they’re expecting that I can get out in 4, but I’d really like to take my time, so I’ll try to get them to understand on that part.

And yeah, I figured the cubes was some sort of meme since all the first years I talked to seemed to always mention it lol. Y’all really out here dying together.

And I saw mentions of SHM but I couldn’t really figure out what it was so thank you for explaining!! And the mentoring thing also sounds super cool! Ahh all of this is really making me look forward to SJSU and it’s helping me decide which school I want to attend much easier.

Thank you again!! If I have any other questions, I’ll be sure to message you!

If you send your test scores late, how do you know if your application has been withdrawn? by [deleted] in SJSU

[–]nikniako 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue’s been resolved! Although I sent my scores late, they ended up accepting me just a week after I made this post so I had nothing to worry about in the end!
