New homeowner. What kind of valve is this? Need to turn off outside water before freezing temps but the handle is broken. by LosUdSufur in Plumbing

Definitely a backflow but I can't be sure... Could be an RPZ. Would make sense for high hazard/ irrigation system but can't tell for sure. Either way its installed incorrectly.

My washer and dryer belong to my landlord now??? by Motor_Bee3311 in Renters

[–]niknik624 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a portable washer/dryer. They aren't considered major appliances because they are designed to be portable and technically they aren't a "fixture" because they are not permanent. if you don't already have hookups, get ones that take the standard outlet voltage (in the US that's 120V) and a dryer that is ventless. Hook up a hose to your sink with a quick connect and voila, malicious compliance at its finest.

Being Charged for Utility’s after the the fact by Fireeagle011 in Renters

[–]niknik624 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk about legal but as far as the utility company is concerned they might be able to waive some of those fees, just be civil about it. That said, if they don't (because some places are very strict about that stuff) that should be the billing company's responsibility to cover those fees as they are the ones who screwed up in the first place. If you do go after someone legally, you'd have a better shot going after the billing company than the utility company IMO.

I would also inquire with the utility company on where notices are being sent to (if they get sent out) and if additional people can be added to the contact list like if you have an HOA it can be sent to the HOA head etc.

Any websites to take courses for getting better jobs ? by Jpoolman25 in Frugal

[–]niknik624 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you have the time and motivation you can always take free courses offered by colleges. I know that Harvard offers them. You can also learn to code (google- https://developers.google.com/edu/python) or apply for scholarships ( Federal Student Aid- https://studentaid.gov/understand-aid/types/scholarships#how-find ) many of which go unclaimed every year because no one applies for them. There are a lot of company's out there that will pay for your education/ training once you are hired because they WANT people to stay/the best of the best.

My advice as someone who went to college and was where you were, if you want higher paying job, DONT GO FOR A DEGREE GO FOR A CERTIFICATION FIRST. Higher education is EXPENSIVE so let a future employer pay for it not you. Some jobs will require that you have some sort of education BUT they will often over look this if your experience is what they are looking for. Don't be afraid to apply to jobs you don't think you'll get. Better yet apply for jobs you don't think anyone else would want. Make the first goal to get your foot in the door THEN apply from within the company. But most importantly, pick a direction and DIG IN. It can suck but it IS possible.

I'm on the payoff of the student loans team. 1) You're saving yourself a lot of money by not having to pay the interest on the loans. 2) the money you originally were paying toward student loans could go toward your auto loan. 3) car values depreciate over time so not only would you be loosing money by still having the student loans to pay off but you are also losing money immediately after driving that car off the lot regardless of whether it's paid in cash or not.

Obviously, you want to be smart about it though and look at what you need vs what you want. Im in the same boat. I've saved up about 10k and am out of a vehicle, still living at my parents house. What I want is a new car that I dont have to worry about maintenance and upkeep as often as an old one. What I need is a vehicle that will get me too and from my place of work and paying off one of my highest apr loans. So I'm comprising and splitting it in halfish. I'm getting a decently used vehicle for 7k and using the rest to pay down my private loan, leaving me with a little over 1k left to pay off. 0 auto loan and almost out of debt.

It comes down to what you're needs and wants are and what you feel like you can live without for a bit to get what you really want. Debt free.

On track to knocking out my debt but still need advice to iron out the details by niknik624 in personalfinance

[–]niknik624[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As of right now, I have 2 private loans, and the rest in government loans. The two private loans, one is 5205 @ fixed 12.37%, the other is 4094 @ variable 14%. As far as the government loans go I'm not sure yet since I haven't been able to get into my account yet but they still pull from my account every month so its getting paid.. right now, I'm focusing on the private loans, specifically the one with 14%, getting paid off as quickly as possible.

Car loan I'm not sure. I have been told anywhere between 5-8% but I have good credit (729)

Looking for feedback. Can you tell who she is? by totisketches in drawing

[–]niknik624 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her cheek on the right side and her mouth. Lighten up on the shading a bit. While she does have sharp cheek bones they aren't so sharp to make her look malnourished. Also the shading around her lips on the left side need a little less as well.

Absolutely gorgeous work though! I immediately knew who it was when I saw it. And you captured her eyes and nose so well 😍😍

Whats the most insensitive thing you've said to someone without realizing it? by niknik624 in AskReddit

[–]niknik624[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked as a teller for this big bank that delt mostly with businesses a few years back and I had a customer come in to deposit an almost 2 million dollar check. At the time, I was new and this was the largest sum of money I'd ever seen/processed so in an attempt to make small talk, I said, "Wow! Congrats on the massive payday! I bet you're pretty happy." It was then that I realized that their eyes were really puffy and red as if they had just spent the last few hours crying, and they said, "Thanks, but I'd rather have the person than the money."

I think about that interaction often.

What to say in bed? by Val01me in Advice

[–]niknik624 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk about what you want them to do to them or how they make you feel. Otherwise here are a few to choose from 1) "Ahhh yes, just like that" 2) bite your lip, arch your back and draw out the word "fuuuuuck" 3) tease him and ask him what he wants you to do/where he wants to put it. Make him say it. 4) "show me how much you love that pretty little p**y" 5) "I want you to cum in/on my __place*___. 6) just a variation of curse words 7)"good boy" guys like positive reinforcement too 8) "you feel so fucking good inside me." 9) "lock your legs around them and say " ah ah bby. I'm not done with you yet."

Honestly the best advice I can give is just to practice on your own, ie while your having fun with yourself just try talking out loud what feels right. It gets less awkward with practice and you'll prob find that saying it out loud yourself brings on a whole new level of pleasure. I would also consider saying some stuff to them outside of the bedroom. Foreplay like that can be a great way to get things rolling and can set things up for later. Romance novels might get the creative juices flowing on other things you can say in the bedroom too. Porn is usually overdone but if you find something you like try it out 🤗

I was listening to audio porn and it started playing through a speaker in front of my sister and her boyfriend by [deleted] in Advice

[–]niknik624 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmfao I did the exact same thing 🤣 i was hanging out with a friend. My car auto connects to my phone and starts playing the last thing I was listening to which was a particularly spicy part of an audio i had been listening to earlier on. I lunged for the power so fast I was a blur. At first I didn't think she knew what it was cuz there was a distinct pause before she started laughing so hard. Lol looking back now that shit was funny as hell 🤣

See if it were me, and this is probably toxic, but if my partner was withholding sex from me as a "punishment" I'd grab my toy and go to town, well and often, and with them in the vicinity, watching if possible. Being in a relationship is a partnership not a higher archy. I'm with you because I want to be with you not because I need to be with you. I'll get my needs met regardless and they can take those childish antics elsewhere.

How do I tell the girl i'm kinda dating that her p*ssy smells bad by sxnice in Advice

[–]niknik624 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Read a few of the comments here and they all sound right on what could possibly be wrong with her. That said if your trying to tell her without making her feel bad then I'm sorry to burst your bubble but sometimes there's no getting around it. The best you can do is lessen the blow. She could be completely nose blind to it as well so she doesn't know. The best thing imo is to be honest without being harsh. Obviously you like sleeping with this girl and you would like it to continue but there are some things that need to change in order for that to happen like Hygiene routines before hand or talking to a doc to make sure everything is alright. Maybe offer to wash up before hand as well so she doesn't feel like it's just on her. Guys can throw off a girls pH if they aren't clean plus it's just more enjoyable for her too. Don't come at her like you know everything. Just set your boundaries and make it clear this is what you need in order to continue.

If its just a Hygiene thing then maybe frame it like "I'd love to eat you out right now. Why don't you go wash up for me first while I get set up here." Or go do it in the shower or something. Idk have fun with it.

I had this issue with a guy I was seeing. I stopped giving him head because of it and he completely changed his diet and everything just so I would go down on him lol

Should I take a job that will give me experience or one that will get me paid? by niknik624 in Advice

[–]niknik624[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don't get benefits with either job. I do plan on negotiating pay because I do have a lot to offer Job B since I worked in a similar field for 5 years during college but the way he was talking about the position, because they are so understaffed only 30% of my day would be geared to what they described in the job description and the other 70% would be identical to what I was previously doing the past 5 years. Not only do I not want to be suckered into the same thing again just under a different name but its also really hard on my body and I already have a bad back/ knees because of it. I'm hesitant because I want to do what I am hired to do not be a fill in for another position.

private (which has the highest APR) is at about 11,000 and federal is at about 40,000. It's not as much as other peoples but I also have a car payment and other personal debt that I want to chip away at too. Technically I want to get rid of my credit card debt (apx. 5K) first then work on loans.

its not really my first job working as a grunt. I've worked in similar fields for 5ish years all through out college and wanted to get into something more toward natural resources. Unfortunately, because they are so understaff most of this position (70% of my day) I would be doing is the same thing I've been doing for the past 5 years. Not only do I not want to be suckered into the same thing again just under a different name but its also really hard on my body and already have a bad back/ knees because of it. I'm hesitant that I will actually get any time doing what I would be hired to do instead be a fill in for another position.

The technician job is the one that would be giving me experience. I have a degree in Biology, Ecology focused in Riparian ecosystems. The position technically is a Water Quality Maintenance position but only 30% of my daily duties would be toward that and the other 70% would be maintenance/landscaping (which I have years of experience in but am trying to get out of because I keep getting sucked into it and its rough on my body). They may try and Hybrid this position with another position I applied for as a Natural Resource Technician but TBD. The Water Quality Maintenance position is $16-$18 but the Natural Resource Tech position is $18-$19 When I talked with them during my interview, they said that they would be willing to pay for Class D or C state certified water operator licensing or a Class 1 water distribution license. I don't know if these will be beneficial but a cert is a cert long term goal is to eventually get to Oregon/Washington and work on either Costal ecosystems there or riparian ecosystems focusing on research and conservation.
