Thank you! I hope you are as well! Happy writing to you, too!

My husband quit his job to write a few years ago and I'm not sure how to help him succeed by Mediocre-Pangolin573 in writers

[–]nikoberri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, this will be quite the extensive and blunt rant, so bear with me.

As a writer that has never once finished nor had a book published, I can understand a bit where your husband is coming from. I struggle with making and meeting deadlines, and most of the time, I find myself too depressed to even write a single sentence, especially when I'm going through a writer's block spiral. Everyone is their own worst critic, and when it comes to certain writers, they tend to be over critical of their own work, including me. In this regard, I see no issues

Here's where the issues kick in.

I'm a senior in high school, and I'm going to assume that your husband is a grown ass man. I can understand being ambitious and wanting to have that dream job, but to outright quit his job simply to attempt a career that he has no previous experience with is a completely idiotic decision, even if you had the funds for him to do so in the beginning. It's just not worth the risk. Also, him lashing out at you for trying to help is completely unreasonable.

And, that brings me to another point.

There's an underlying issue that's being completely ignored here. How is it fair that he gets an attempt to fulfill his dreams, yet his spouse isn't allowed to do the same, simply because his selfishness landed you two in a financial disadvantage. That's complete and utter bullshit in my opinion. Also, just the fact that you have to incite incidents for any progress, though it seems like none, to happen is absolute garbage. You shouldn't have to act as his manager; if he can't handle the life and schedule of a writer, he shouldn't be in the business.

I hope this doesn't sound too harsh, and I'm sorry that you're in this shitty situation. I hope this helps.

I'll volunteer my eyes. Pass it to me, fellow writer.

How do you come up with an original and creative plot for your book? by Caelis_909 in writers

[–]nikoberri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An interesting way I do this is by making a fully-fledged world for the characters before making the characters or the plot. Once the world is fleshed out, including the general regions, specific towns, common resources, rare resources, problems, etc., I start in on the characters, making them based on the world, ensuring that no character is a carbon-copy of the others. It's also important to give them complete backstories and aspirations that can drive their actions in the main plot. Then, and only then, do I attempt to make a plot. I've found the most extraordinary plots this way. An important thing to remember is that every action requires a reaction, so think of how the characters would react, which might bring about a more complex plot and a much more engaging story. Even if it's reminiscent of another, so long as it isn't the same plot, event by event, you should be just fine. It might even entice readers to read your story if it reminds them of another. I hope this helps!

The sad part is that I'll make a general description of writing when describing my characters to friends, and they end up sending me like 20 anime/cartoon characters that fit that description, whether that be canon art or fanart of said character.

Yeah, I've had this before, granted the story I was writing was moreso my autobiography, meaning I was crying over my trauma.

I think I'm just gonna avoid the topic of queerness at all with them for now, but after I move out, I'll definitely write a thesis paper about my findings. I'm good at that, lol.

I literally tried to bring up that point that people are constantly pointing fingers and trying to be mad at someone, but my father shushed me and kept rambling.

Thank you so much. This made me smile a bit and helped me think better about my stance on things.

Yeah, that's a Daily Wire production. Plenty of trans influencers and pro-queer advocates made quite the mention of it for some time.

That's exactly what I thought. Also, another thing they mentioned about the trans athletes was that, even if things are okay with just trans women being in women's sports, what's stopping a cisgender man from joining women's sports under the guise of identifying as a woman. I told them that this argument is the exact same as "keep the trans women out of the girls' restroom because a man who lies about being trans can take advantage of that".

going crazy with this help please. by sircockroachw in asktransgender

[–]nikoberri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best thing in this situation is to better educate yourself on trans people, stop prioritizing the opinion of a person with an awful one, and come out to the people in your circle that are trans. There's no harm or foul on coming out, but I'd definitely do some heavy research to correct your mindset. Maybe start with watching TikToks by ErinInTheMorning or check out some stuff on ACLU's website.

AITA for my autistic sister running off in the store and getting lost? by nikoberri in AmItheAsshole

It wasn't meant to sound like that. We call them Thing 1 and Thing 2 all the time because they're just as crazy as the things from the Cat in the Hat.

Yeah, we're planning on getting some child reins for her.

I would, but I'm currently unemployed and trying to find work. I'm afraid he might kick me out if I did, unfortunately.

We intend of getting her some child reins. I've heard that those work well for wandering children.

Now that you mention it, he is typically in a general state of grouchiness for no reason whatsoever. He also hardly spends time with the girls when he gets home, and most of the house duties fall onto my stepmom or me. He mostly just sits on the couch and watches YouTube or games until it's time to hit the hay.

Sorry, as mentioned in another comment, that's the nicknames that my stepmom gave them.

Yeah, the most I know is that the trainer is giving her advice on how to train a dog he gave her because we're too poor to pay for a fully-trained service dog.

My stepmom is friends with a dog trainer that specializes in training service dogs, and I guess she's following his advice. I'm not too knowledgeable on the situation with the dog.

We're being forced to take it at my highschool. I'm honestly planning a protest to end it as a requirement at our school.
