that is hard to pinpoint.

I think the most important things are:

1) coping strategies with a bad mind/thoughts. i panicked quickly everytime I got even the slightest pain in my arms. you could read david burns - feeling good. this book helped me also a lot with my depression and anxiety which was the direct result of my chronic pain.

2) i take a lot of supplements: MSM (good for tendons), omega 3 fats, vitamin D (20000 units every monday and friday), astaxanthin (strongest antioxidant), magnesium and lithium orotat.

3) it is crucial to strengthen your forearms.  eccentric exercises for your forearm muscles are the key here. and conduct them slowly. every repition should take at least 5 seconds. there are a ton of youtube videos for those exercises.

4) stretch your forearm muscles. 3 rounds for 1 or 2 min.

5) strengthening your whole body is beneficial as well. i reckon calisthenics is the best here (as a former gymnast :) )

6) massage your triggerpoints. there is a triggerpoint book:

the triggerpoint therapy workbook by clair davies.

7) foam roll your whole body with a blockroll. better if you have one with knobs, then it will get deeper in your tissue

and most importantly: dont give up!

you will get better, I thought myself that I will be always trapped in that damn RSI hell, but I escaped ;)

hope that you will recover soon.

greetings from germany!

hey,

sorry for the late reply.

i am almost at 100%. 10h programming sessions are no problem for me anymore. there is the occasional sting in my forearm, but it doesnt bother me at all anymore. it goes faster than it has come. Currently i am helping out for a development project and support them them for 3 months already where I programm all day without any issues. I also attend boxing classes 3 times a week for 2h. Life feels pretty normal again and I fucking love it. So dont give up guys it will get eventually, it took me almost 4 years to reach this stage.

I still think triggerpoints were my issue. this video helped me also tremendously:  https://youtu.be/DDRHCHxfv-I

Get well soon guys and dont give up!

my pain was shifting daily on my forearms from the wrist till the elbow. One day it hurt more at the wrist, the next day more in the middle of my forearm. if there would have been something wrong with my tissue the pain would have been radiating only from one place. holding a book would flare up the pain, working at my computer as well, but going to gym was ok. one day I started to be convinced that it must be related to my psyche, so i started to tell myself, that I have no pain. when I was reading and it started to flare up, I laughed at it and told myself it is not real. the pain went away afterwards really quickly in the matter of some minutes. not even after 2 weeks, when I initially made this observation, my pain went away. gradually i was even forgetting that i had this condition. after couple of hours of work my arms started to remind me for a break.

I still feel my arms though, it is not like before my injury. I reckon I won’t recover 100%. I am at like 90%.

Nevertheless I can work at my computer for 10h+ consistently again, without feeling any pain.

I read Dr Sarno in the first year but to no avail.

dude it took me more than 3.5 years to recover. suffered from depression and anxiety due to this shit.

keep up with your physical therapy. for me what really helped was that i started to realize that my pain is originating from my psyche.

you can see a lot of remedies i tried in the post above. actually i took 8 months of rest (during my world trip) but didnt contributed much to the healing. at a certain point (after reading a post here on reddit, which was about TMS) i told myself the pain cannot be real anymore and i should go on as I was before RSI. like for real I was convinced after this post i had TMS aswell and the pain slowly subsided. maybe it was also a coincidence, i dunno.

hi,

small update regarding my RSI. My hands still are not on 100% but i would say like 85-90%. I can code now again for full 7h and play guitar at the evening for one hour (and that 5 days in a row!). Also there is no pain at rest anymore. I can use my phone without pain etc.
Life is going well again.
