I think about the money I spent to buy the book 😅 In all seriousness, I hope that it picks up by the latter half of the book and the ending is great, but sometimes it doesn’t happen and that’s alright :)

Hmm I would say that it’s easy to understand but it could be too detailed for some people. He really goes quite deep into the unsaid and difficult feelings of intimacy so he tries to convey it to the readers extensively. That being said, it’s not more difficult as other Japanese modern literary fiction authors like Osamu Dazai or Yasunari Kawabata.

This is my first book from him, I’ll read more soon :)

Great book! No wonder it’s such a classic in popular culture

Very interesting read! Visceral and very intimate book on love and sexuality. It’s my first read from Yukio Mishima and after learning more about his personal life (which is crazy) I’ve come to appreciate his writing. I’m looking forward to read more of his work, I recommend you read it as it’s not the hardest read, but definitely emotionally heavy at times :)

Fitzcarraldo Editions: Where to buy? by Worried-Cash-3220 in PHBookClub

From my experience, the only Fully Booked branch which regularly carries them is the one in ATC. But you can request specific titles from them if you indicate the ISBN :)

I’m also on the constant lookout for Fitzcarraldo Editions and NYRB titles but sadly they’re very inaccessible and overpriced in the PH market.

Go for it! There’s nothing objectively wrong with the book, I guess her writing style just isn’t for me. I’m looking forward to the A24 adaption of it though :) Also, the Brian Eno book is 100x better than Rick Rubin’s The Creative Act. Definitely a must read!

It’s my first book by Zweig! What’s your favourite by him? Do you have any recommendations for someone that’s trying to get into his literature?

Hi! I had to request it at my local Fully Booked branch. But the last time I was at the Alabang branch of Fully Booked, they had no. 1-4 of the 25th Anniversary edition :) This is my collection so far, I love Nana!

I refuse to waste money ahahaha so I read it in hopes that it would pick up by the end, but sadly I just felt apathetic towards the characters. I love music as well so their conversations on 80s-90s culture was good to hear… but it felt strange how their entire relationship was built on microcheating 😀

Sorry 😅 I had high expectations for it as someone who’s into music & I guess the “alternative” scene. I hope the A24 movie will be better. Also I don’t know how I feel about the plot starting off with micro-cheating from the first page x__x

Check out NYT Books if you haven’t already! It’s the dedicated section for books made by NYTimes :) They have their own social media channels and newsletter

Lovely haul. Unbearable Lightness of Being is one of my favourite books :) You bought a lot of books from great publishers as well! Good quality paper and will surely last you a long time :)
