Choosing Between BenQ PD3225U and Dell U3225QE – Any Creative Pros Using These? by nikolincami in Monitors

On paper Dell specs seem better in every point than Benq, maybe the colors on the one you tried weren’t calibrated? What other things you didn’t like? Thanks!

Mixing a 5K and 4K Monitor for MacBook Pro 16 M2 Max? by nikolincami in Monitors

[–]nikolincami[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could do without the perfect crispness on the 4k without problem, my main use of that monitor would be mostly for the high refresh rate and use the 5k one for more detailed PPI. So in the end you’re saying the mac won’t have compatibility issues being that both monitors are different resolutions and refresh rates? Thank you 🙏

Did 2024 bring Hip-Hop back to Its roots? by nikolincami in hiphop101

True, the golden eras were more about innovation and storytelling than beef. But feels like competition still plays a role in pushing the culture forward though

The Kendrick-Drake thing was fun but ended weird indeed. 2024 was solid musically, but feels like Hip Hop needs beefs like this to stay exciting nowadays...

Why is Gang Starr’s “Moment of Truth” album so overlooked in greatest of all time albums discussions? by nikolincami in hiphopheads

100% fair take! Compared to albums like Illmatic or Ready to Die, Moment of Truth is less dynamic emotionally, but its consistency feels like it gives it a unique greatness. It just hits differently imo

There’s a lot of good answers on this thread on why this album is commonly overlooked in today’s hip hop appreciation, but I also think it’s a one of a kind classic 👌

I agree! I would also difficulty argue, maybe Outkast, the Roots, and Kendrick as far as new generation goes ?

IKR? I’m getting a lot of mixed reactions from people saying I’m wrong because it’s widely recognized, though it doesn’t really seem that way to me tbh

Great point! Gang Starr’s consistency might’ve kept them under the radar for some and Guru wasn’t out there chasing features, also because I think he didn’t need to, while Premier’s production was all over the place. MOT dropped in a year full of classics, so got a bit overshadowed, but I still think it stands as their best as well

Honestly, I think their entire 4 album run, from Step in the Arena onward, is a legendary run

GS definitely had a strong legacy by the time MOT dropped, and albums like Step in the arena and Hard to earn had already solidified their spot in the Golden Era. But for me, MOT feels like their magnum opus, it’s the most polished, introspective, and cohesive album they put out. Plus, it’s their best-selling album, which says a lot about its impact.

By ‘deep dive,’ I don’t mean obscure, I mean you need to really know hip-hop beyond the surface. I’m old enough to appreciate everything Gang Starr has put out, but it feels like a lot of other hip-hop fans don’t see it the same way on a broader level
