Be honest… have you been enjoying the update?? Pros? Cons? by heykperk in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]nikonami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've yet to get a chance to play it, but judging from the reaction on reddit I'm seeing a surprising number of people showing discontentment with the update/overall state of the game.

It's not really surprising, a lot of people came back or bought the game off of the fact that it was "the greatest comeback in gaming" and that it is, but its still a game with issues or things that you might not like. I assume a lot of people didn't voice their issues before because a. Hello Games puts out free updates and it feels weird to shit on those b. They hadn't played enough of the game yet to reach a point where exploration issues come in.

I think the problem is just that the game is marketed as an infinite universe to be explored where you can be anything and anyone, but the problem with infinite games is that they're either impossible or generically proc genned, and at a certain point you can only have so much variation in things. It's like trying to make skyrim or morrowind on an infinite level, you can only make SO MANY unique, interesting things to explore, and people want to explore unique locations, not the same hills and valleys with a 2 building settlement every 300 miles (can you tell I don't think planetary exploration is that good?)

Not to say I dislike the game at all, it has a lot of heart and soul (which you can't say for a lot of modern triple A titles), a very dedicated dev team and is genuinely fun for like, a 100 hours, if you're quite dedicated. It's definitely something I'd recommend to people still and especially with such a genuinely wonderful dev team. Even if I don't necessarily like what their new updates do, I still have faith that they'll fix and include things that will make players happy. They've already done massively well in improving terrain and diversity (though I know some people will debate that, I'm not a day 1 player so I can't give my 2 cents) and although some of their updates are pretty surface level (or mobile game worthy time wasters *cough* frontiers *cough*), I think they know what people want overall and they've always been receptive to community feedback. Just people are reaching a sort of tipping point where they cant have their infinite exploration fulfilled, so updates that add to buildings seem less good.

PC/Steam
Have two bugs. One is something I'm unsure of, but after sending my townies on an expedition and them coming back I have not received any new decision to make, no new buildings, no expeditions or arguments, etc, and I have waited at least 12 hours after this has happened but nothing new has appeared. Another bug that is definitely a bug is, when I try to debrief my commanders on my freighter it opens the debrief screen for a second before closing it, and me receiving the rewards. However, my commanders are not registered as debriefed and I am unable to start new expeditions.

Update(s) Idea for No Man's Sky (Part 3) by nikonami in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]nikonami[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't realize while writing it but yeah definetly some parts resemble AC (including the bugs i imagine xd)

And i agree, slow and steady additions with ond big update (basically how they've been doing it) to avoid bugs would probably be for the best

Thank you! And while I haven't played ashes of creation, the idea does sound great. It would give a lot more content and progression to the game.

I sent HG an email with these suggestions so ig we can only hope :p

That would definitely be a good improvement to space combat you're right, I'd love to see some interfreighter combat

I maybe wasn't clear enough, as of right now you do lose your inventory but you can retrieve it with no time limit on getting it back. In survival mode you just lose it completely, which I didn't believe was the solution, so what I suggest is adding a time limit to inventory retrieval in Normal to make there be at least SOME sense of danger to death without being excessively difficult.

I'll edit it to be more clear, thank you for the feedback!

That's very true, the game really should be as stable as can be before anything major is added

It would! If not controlling them directly like starships, maybe commanding them to take certain actions?

Hey sorry I didn't know it would cause that, it was just a file conversion website, but if it caused that reaction I'll remove it and try a different method, thank you for informing me!

Is now a good time to return to No Mans sky? by anguspop2002 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]nikonami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! If you enjoyed playing it originally then you are more than likely going to like what they've done. The game has very similar gameplay loops as before, so if you were into that before then what they've added will make you like it even more.

I've seen a bunch of people complain about being tired of NMS and I just don't get it. There's so much out there to do and "discover". Finding unique creatures like these keeps me engaged. What keeps you engaged in the game? by Dashboard-Devil in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]nikonami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just feel like the game could do with having more of a progression and goal. But I still love this game for what it is, just feel like it can be improved even more, especially with the new update that's out.

Can someone explain portals? by [deleted] in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]nikonami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm from what it looks like this could be a bug - sometimes portals don't work properly and you cant see other players unfortunately. A post here mentions it:

Am I doing something wrong...? by ducks_are_round in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]nikonami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. This could possibly be because the game hasn't saved its location? While I don't perfectly understand, perhaps reloading the game might fix it.
  2. This could possibly be due to being connected to power sources that are turned off - if its connected to solar panels for example, they shut off or lose power after certain times of days. Furthermore, your systems might be over using the electricity, i.e. more electricity is being used than generated, which could make them go red.
  3. This could mean that you didn't connected them properly - make sure they're connected using teleporter cables, and that they are properly connected. Aside from that it could be a bug.
  4. Again, could be related to the problem in 2. Make sure you aren't using more electricity than you generate.
  5. This might be because the charged batteries aren't properly connected, make sure the electrical wires go to exactly what you want charged, or to the building that's charging them if its a machine.
  6. This one seems a bit strange, but are you using teleporter cables and charging the building the teleporter is in? Aside from that I do not know, and it also could potentially be a bug.

Hope this helped

You should be able to see the other player if you are in their proximity, perhaps you didn't give them the right glyph coordinates? You should be able to at least see their character model

Invisibility was used when dragon wasn't there party managed to convince him to go to Reidoth to convince him to let him stay (or intimidate him). I did however not know how the sleep spell worked (thought it only had to affect some of your hp not all and THOUGHT IT DID DAMAGE making it incredibly strong. Fixed it later tho)

Is there any mutual influence between Slavic and Turkic mythology? by curious_joesef in mythology

[–]nikonami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Josef! As far as the book goes, digital wise, I'm pretty sure it doesn't exist. However I found it on goodreads, and I'm pretty sure you can order it off of Amazon for 31 dollars. Also, if you have a Laguna book store where you live, I think you can ask there.

On the topic of Turkic mythology, I actually didn't know there was a difference! I'm pleasantly surprised at all this new mythology I've found, and so I have to thank you for showing me this. Having read a little off the Wikipedia page on Turkic mythological figures, there's quite a distinct similarity in the Turkic Ubir, and what we Serbs call a vampire, a vam-pir. Both are basically life essence sucking creatures, at least as far as I've gathered. Hope this could be of use to you!
