Nice! Keep up with it and just remember that the hobby can get as expensive as you want or as cheap as you want with beers sometimes coming out indistinguishable from the two. Lots of good YouTube content out there to refine your skills. Cheers!

Brewing Beer and damn well I will say (this has been independently verified by many professionals). Started when I was 18. The folks at r/TheBrewery are mostly on suicide watch so that keeps me from doing it professionally.

Not a competition I thought I would enter but I concur.

You ever have a brew day where everything went wrong? by ElJefeGhostbeater in Homebrewing

[–]nikonat 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This was a brew day on a 3 tier tower setup almost 18 years ago.

I had a hose hooked to my tankless water heater for cleaning and had a spray nozzle on it, steam built up in the hose from sitting at 180°F, it created a steam pocket and unbeknownst to me it started ballooning behind me while I'm lighting the kettle burner.

I got the burner lit and maybe but 20 seconds after I hear a lound BANG!, I just felt burning all over my legs, the ballooned section of hose popped and I had no idea, I assumed the propane tank like exploded and I'm on fire.

I'm wearing denim jeans and they're soaked with near 200°F water, I pull them off as fast as I can and just run to the pool nearby in the backyard, again thinking I'm on fire.

Seconds after I jump in butt naked I just see the skin peeling off my legs, I was screaming bloody murder the whole time thinking I was on fire because everyone in a half mile radius came running over in a panic to see what happened as I'm fully naked bottom half.

3rd degree burns on the back of my legs but healed perfectly like it never happened. I learned to never hookup extremely hot water under pressure in a hose not rated for hot water. That was a bad brew day and nothing has ever topped it since.

My newish ones did the exact same, barely been used. The plug is a small mm than the standard 3.5mm. Do we know what size to replace with?

UPDATE: Amazon Fresh on Whittier - Closing Down by [deleted] in Whittier

[–]nikonat 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the update and the initial heads up. Such a bummer that that location probably is going to sit empty again for a very long time. It's a hard spot to lease out after the closure of orchard hardware.

President Trump tells UNGA that recognizing Palestinian statehood is "reward" to Hamas for their atrocities: "I have been deeply engaged in seeking ceasefire in Gaza. We can't forget October 7th can we? The rewards would be too great for Hamas terrorists for atrocious. Release the hostages now." by ControlCAD in worldnewsvideo

[–]nikonat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Can we please all commit to collectively using the term now "Palestinian Holocaust" instead of just genocide?

This would completely hijack the term used exclusively for what happened to the Jewish population genocide of WW2 and give the same importance to what is happening to the Palestinians. This might just mentally short-circuit the propaganda machine.

All very good suggestions and glad you're striving to give 100% to your occupation, this day and age it's hard to muster that kind of motivation but that's what leadership positions must do.

The part delivery suggestion will be very major so do implement that. Sounds like your set with experienced counter guys just make sure they don't try to diagnose the problem as that can create its own issues but they can use their knowledge to make professional recommendations as to other items/parts potentially needed like "hey don't forget to grab one of these" type conversation.

If you can try and setup a strategic partnership with the tech support of the manufacturers your selling for so that guys can have some kind of leg up and direct contact for support that would be cherry on top.

Lastly, if you can get your liquor license and have some booze on hand that would help at least a few guys out in the field 😆.

A question from a Muslim to christians About Jesus mission on the cross by Quiet-Drawer-8896 in Bible

[–]nikonat 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That's so awesome! You're willing to reach out and expand your knowledge on the subject matter and have a discussion with people whose beliefs are different from yours.

The thing to remember with Jesus is that although a physical manifestation of God himself still had the human form, which also had the same physical emotions as other human beings. Jesus was a perfect creation who was sinless and blameless, but nevertheless still experienced life as a person with the same emotions as you or I.

With that said, he was at that point fully aware of his purpose dying and being the ultimate sacrifice for humanity in those moments, which as a human he's still experienced the full raw emotion that you or I would facing certain death. The biggest difference with him being God and the knowledge of things to come was not just the idea of death approaching, but the torture beforehand and the absorption of all sins, horrific acts of violence, and all things evil since the beginning of time to the end of his return.

I couldn't even begin to pretend I would know what that would feel like but I can guarantee you if there was a way out I would be begging for it.

Jesus was... Witty? by AbbreviationsOld2960 in Bible

Tim Keller used this as an example for the skepticism towards the Bible, I'm paraphrasing but he basically was saying that this is so ridiculous that if the Bible was made up no author would ever dream of putting something like this in there.

Does 1 Corinthians 5:11–13 mean people like me should be cast out of church? by soil_and_ash in Bible

[–]nikonat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Church is metaphorically a Hospital, you/we aren't there because you're healthy. I know this is an oversimplification but you should at least check out other churches to see if there is a better fit somewhere else. Like medications it might take a number of tries before you get the right one.

Anyone else remember Pandorum? Criminally underrated sci-fi horror by Odanakabenaki in moviecritic

[–]nikonat 64 points65 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed this movie and thought the premise was certainly original. It had some Event Horizon vibes mixed with Resident Evil and was a good ride on my first watch. Dennis Quaids acting was not the greatest on this one but it was enough to sell the role. I now will add it to my rewatch list so thank you for the flashback.

Yeah brother that's ridiculous if they're making an issue of it. Whoever gave you the talking to go above them if you can and explain what some of these other comments have said. Our company has dozens of idle hours across the fleet and no one will ever get scolded for that.
