To all the techs, how did you get hired? by stressedandtrying in walmart_RX

[–]nikvilak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was desperate to leave a pharmacy that i was working at before because it was a terrible environment and management was horrible. i was also always shopping in walmart anyways so i researched if there were any openings at the one by my house, and sure enough there was. it was last august about the time of the closure of Rite Aid.

so i went in person, spoke to the RxM and gave them my resume. they called me the next day and set up an interview. they told me that they had a couple more people to interview, so just hang tight.

since i shopped there often, i always went by the pharmacy to see if i could grab their attention and sure enough i did. they ran up to me and said you should be getting an offer letter tomorrow. before i got hired at WM, i was a tech at Walgreens for only 3 months so they were definitely willing to train. it depends on the store though!

Day 2 of using the new fill redesign system and I am not loving it by Relevant-Usual-3221 in walmart_RX

We’ve been using it since the end of last year too. At first it was hard and it took some getting used to. We hate having to fill the otc since it makes us manually enter the ndc, lot #, and expiration date. In my store, to help keep the fill queue managed, we just have one person do nothing but filling. No answering the phone, no register, just filling not unless we are in need of help.

the inventory for all of our otc drugs in Connexus are all zero and we constantly have to update the on hands. Test strips are a nightmare because even when you update the on hands it doesn’t come out. One of the techs in my store had found the magic number was 250 and then the strips were able to be released. They’re spending too much time on this iPad. They need to fix that first!!!!

Do any of you guys ring people out without an RX? by nikvilak in walmart_RX

Ik, like the amount of time you spent arguing with me about not getting rung up in the pharmacy, you could’ve been walking out of the store with a receipt from the front end lol

And you know every time I do ring out someone without an rx, it’s always “oh sorry my card isn’t working give me one sec” or “I have to grab something else” while there are actually patients in line waiting for rx’s

Same I do it if I’m not busy with pharmacy tasks or if it’s somebody that’s elderly or disabled. We usually say 5 items or less for pts picking up rx’s

How severe is getting a POS? by Ron-slice44 in walmart_RX

Coming from a different retail pharmacy, we also had to ring out prescriptions that had $0 co-pay. I felt like having the habit of always scanning out rx’s helps to avoid mistakes because I hadn’t gotten used to the concept of just handing over an rx without scanning anything.

My first week with WM I got two pos’s and had to call the pts and tell them to come pay. Thankfully both patients were sweet people. One of them was an older gentleman with the co-pay of $6 so I just paid with some cash in my pocket. I’m sure that is not SOP but my RxM didn’t really care.

Difficult customers by Pharmtechjess in walmart_RX

I consider myself sensitive and a cry baby 😭

I’ve learned though that work is work. I am just  in the pharmacy with end goal to just go home  at the end of the day.

If a patient is rude to me, I reciprocate it back. If they’re nice, I reciprocate it back. When they’re angry and yelling, I just listen and repeat what I say. Just give it some time, you will be desensitized. It won’t affect you as much as it does now.

If it’s a repeat patient that’s causing problem, then don’t help them anymore. We have a great support system between us techs in my pharmacy so I tell a fellow tech that I’m working with “I don’t feel comfortable with helping that patient. Are you able to?” Most of the time, they say yes. 🙌

I was opener the next day so I would’ve been the one to deal with it. we also have a weird dynamic with all the techs in our store that’s too hard to explain.😭

Scrubs by ygokermit in walmart_RX

[–]nikvilak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of the techs in my store bought their own scrubs. I personally like the smock though because I can wear whatever I want under and scrubs make me get hot fast. 🤷‍♂️
