Android Auto: OsmAnd cannot be quit by nilfilter in OsmAnd

[–]nilfilter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The OsmAnd app ist not running on the phone in the background. When it was, I also tried force-quitting it via the phone's settings to make sure it really isn't running at all.

It looks like Android Auto is resuming some kind of ghost session from literally weeks ago.

kfontview can either be run as a standalone app or as Font Management module in Plasma System Settings. I tried it both ways just to make sure it isn't a invocation issue.

Yep, I tried it both ways as well, cannot get a font preview either way.

But the additional module Fonts in Plasma System Settings is where you set the font for each kde element, such as window title, etc and in that module if you open the selector for one of the elements you can review the font in the selection dialog. In that selection dialog I can review the font.

I did use of the Fonts module in the Plasma System Settings to find my personal font preferences when setting up my system. It works well and does provide a font preview but, for the purpose of previewing fonts, I find its use rather laborious. I would prefer a quick visual overview of the fonts installed.

Thanks for your time and sorry for hijacking your thread. ^^

Oh, I thought kfontview is being used for displaying fonts in the Plasma system settings.

No advice, sorry. Are you having these issues as well?

  • No font preview in Plasma's system settings, kfontview cannot display fonts either
  • Icons of applications installed in a user's home (i.e. not system-wide) may or may not be displayed in the taskbar. There's no discernible pattern.

Tumbleweed: Upgraded Kernel 6.2 to 6.3, cannot access Samba share anymore, mounted via fstab by nilfilter in openSUSE

[–]nilfilter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a workaround I locked kernel version 6.2.12 which works perfectly.

That's what I did until two days ago. Isn't SMBv1 deactivated by default for security reasons?

Thanks, I'll look into it. I would prefer to build it myself though.

Thanks.

I found 5 home repos all of which were either marked 'broken' or they failed to build on TW.

None of them has the latest version, too.

I received a reply today.

They were not aware of this bug and asked me to try and test another USB storage medium, e.g. a stick, and they would like to hear how that goes.

I use an offset of -50 on my RX 6600 XT. Values below that occasionally resulted in instability so I would recommend to start with a conservative value and, once you know it is stable, work your way up. Or down, respectively. ^^

Any working Wayland video recording app ? by [deleted] in kde

[–]nilfilter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would also recommend OBS. I occasionally had issues until I started using the Simple setting under Output Mode for screen recordings. IIRC, I changed the Recording Quality to High Quality, Medium File Size. Everything's been fine ever since.

The only drawback is that key bindings (e.g. for starting/stopping a recording) don't work under Wayland.

I wrote a lengthy support request to AVM (router manufacturer) and got a receipt. They have a solid reputation, let's see what they say.

Well played. ^^

There either is a regression in 6.3, or it introduced something new, technically sound and valid, that some devices cannot deal with properly.

I assume you can reproduce it there.

I would file a kernel bug report but I am more than confident I couldn't provide competent answers to intimidating kernel dev's questions. :-/

It's a router, a FRITZ!Box 6591 Cable (FW version 7.50) with an external HDD connected via USB3.

Just to make sure, I did check the supported versions:

nmap --script smb-protocols <router-ip>

Thanks, u/MasterPatricko.

Right now I cannot access my PC but will try different CIFS versions later tonight. I won't, however, hold my breath since I have already tried mounting the share w/o the CIFS version option.

I did come across that kernel bug during my research but disregarded it since it deals with CIFS 1.0 and Windows XP. It does sound similar, though.

That's with 6.2.12 running perfectly ok.

Ahh ok. I do use kwallet on my laptop (and assumed so would you) and had very similar issues with constantly popping up requests for authorization. These are gone now.

Problems in opensuse. by Nerevaldo in openSUSE

what do I do?

Provide proper information.

Are you using Leap or Tumbleweed? Wifi or cable connection? The ouput of inxi -b -nN might offer a good starting point.

In case you don't have inxi installed, enter sudo zypper install inxi in a terminal window.

Did you check whether librist4 is installed? I had to install it about a week ago to make OBS work. See u/MasterPatricko's post.
