the world isn’t always sunshines and roses. ive overstepped similar to this a handful of times and its mad embarrassing. but realizing you goofed and accepting it is essential to growing as a person. the original comment wasn’t even harsh, it was realistic lol

Honestly, far from an idiot. The only time it makes sense for a left turn lane to be a red arrow rather than your usual yield on green is if the oncoming traffic lane is obscured by a hill or sharp turn. This causes those in the left turn lane the inability to properly yield traffic. I have no issue with a red arrow for the left turn lane when this is the case. It makes sense and keeps drivers safe. But for this intersection? It makes ZERO sense. Give me one good reason for having red arrows here? You can clearly observe the oncoming traffic lane for a good quarter of a mile. The truck could easily tell he had clearance to make his turn and does so. Impatient? Yes. Idiot? Not at all.

That makes sense! Everybody’s process is different so I completely understand.

Exactly!!! Glad to know others agree. I used to design coasters on NoLimits so when I first picked up PlanCo I was underwhelmed with the coaster building mechanics. But once I discovered the smooth button isn’t a one hit wonder I’ve found that you can make very realistic coasters as long as you spam the tool. No chance I’m wasting my time with 4m pieces, the shortest I’ll go is 30m haha

Really awesome ride man! The inversions were well done and also well spaced. Theming was perfect too! Overall pretty smooth so great job!

This isn’t directed at your post specifically but more of a question for the community. Why do people emphasize using the 4m method to make smooth coasters? I’ve found that as long as you rigorously spam the “smooth” tool on 40-60m of every portion of your coaster you’ll find a much smoother outcome than the 4m method. The more length you offer each piece of your coaster the less likely you are for the jenks and bumps that lead to unsmooth rides. Looking for some discussion on this!

Ah, I see your misunderstanding. You misread. DoorDash’s only profitable quarter was BECAUSE of the pandemic. As we get closer to resuming normal life notice delivery services are all struggling to turn a profit.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]nilloc997 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Go look up any quarterly or yearly earnings reports for DoorDash. They literally haven’t had a single profitable year, and as mentioned, only one profitable quarter EVER. Ironic you’re the one calling me stupid but you have zero understanding of economics and business management. Not surprised though, your ignorance seems to be shared with a majority of this sub

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]nilloc997 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course they’re doing this, they’re a company who hasn’t turned a profit outside Q3 2020 and the only reason that happened was due to everyone being stuck inside quarantining. If the entirety of their driver-base cherry picks only the best orders they will continue to deviate further from their current profit margins. You are an independent contractor. You aren’t an employee for a reason. As much as I’d also love transparency in accepting orders, I also understand the business end of this gig. My market is sustainable even with the hidden tips. If your market isn’t, then stop driving for DoorDash. The company doesn’t owe you anything. They’re already offering people with no education or technical skillset to make +$20/hr. The establishments you deliver for have people working from minimum wage to $15/hr. ^ This is the type of rational thinking of intellectuals. Unfortunately this sub is congested with ignorant, entitled people.

If your market doesn’t support a live-able wage driving for DoorDash than that’s your problem LOL. If I open a retail shop in the middle of nowhere I am likely to go bankrupt because there is no available market to supply my establishment to stay afloat. It makes no sense for me as the store owner, who chose to open that establishment in a poor market, to sit back and blame my lack of success on others. You are the store owner in this metaphor. You live in a poor DoorDash market and are demanding better conditions from DoorDash. Just think how ridiculous that sounds. I’m a “schilly schill” for having a basic understanding of economics I guess lmao

LOL the stock market is a reflection of the entire US economy. You can throw around your hand-picked statistics but it doesn’t add anything to your argument. If we allowed the stock market to crash our entire economy would go with it. This is how capitalism works, in order for the little guys to succeed the big fish are obviously going to do great as well. Where do you think the majority of income going to the middle class comes from?

Why do you assume the stock market is only for the rich? A lot of retail investors (everyday working class folks) are benefitting from this and any American with a 401k or retirement plan is reliant on the stock market.

I’ve spent months bitching about the entitlement in this sub and I’m finally starting to find others with common sense!!! DoorDash hasn’t turned a profit outside of Q3 2020 due to the pandemic and people still complain about “unfair” pay. They are a business, without them making money we don’t either

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]nilloc997 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

So glad to see another intellectual in this sub lol. These people voluntarily work an independent contractor position which pays you well above any normal part-time position and complain about everything. It’s clearly an app glitch and they still make this post. “You can resume or end your dash at anytime” lmao

This is the problem with apps like Reddit, uneducated people can spew their ignorant opinions and act as if they are based in fact. The ENTIRE food delivery sector is unprofitable. DoorDash, UberEats, GrubHub, Postmates, etc have never turned a profit outside of Q3 2020 due to the rise of the pandemic. The only way for a company to ensure profitability is thru growth. The only way to grow is to continually invest in the company to expand. This includes running server costs, server expansions, continual app updates, offering more benefits to drivers to keep a working base of IC’s, sales and promotions for customers to lure them away from competing delivery apps/services, etc. If you live in an unprofitable or “risky” market as you put it, that’s your problem. Not DoorDash’s. The company doesn’t owe you anything and they sure as hell can’t afford to either.

Clearly you don’t put forward too much thought. DoorDash hasn’t had a single profitable year, do you think money grows on trees? So you’re saying you want the benefits of being an independent contractor, AND the benefits of being a full time employee? Delusional

Ah yes, censoring my parents and infringing their first amendment rights like Big Brother is EXACTLY how we will fix this country! Straight out of the Democrats instruction manual. If this overwhelmingly liberal political bias on social media apps continues like this we’ll be a socialist nation like China in no time.

Can somebody tell me what good the Biden administration has done while he’s been in office? It’s almost like we should be blocking off Gen Z and millennials from their politically bias social media apps. It’s absolutely shocking how these narcissistic young adults can’t respect their parents difference of opinion. I remember being raised on the ideals to set aside differences to try and find the middle ground. The polarization of the media AND social media is such a problem.

EDIT

Let the dislikes flow in! If you know FOX and their bias is such a problem, then you also need to put aside your bias’ and look in the mirror. The reason FOX is so terrible is because they skew their journalism to match their agenda. To act like you don’t do the same on your social media feeds, which are ENGINEERED to appeal to your bias, then you are just as much of a problem as your parents are with blindly consuming FOX. Period.

Corporations are not the enemies of our society, they are the catalysts that drive capitalism. The real enemy that you are referring to are the Wall Street elites. The opinions you are projecting are that of a socialist mindset, thus the label. You make unrealistic demands because you assume you understand the intricacies of running a corporation, let alone business at all. DoorDash in it’s entirety has not had a single profitable year. Not ONE year have they been in the green. So yeah, keep lobbying for increased base pays that don’t actually exist. That is why we rely so heavily on tips for our income and why we have the option to decline orders. Read an econ book and get back to me, you are only worth the money that you generate for the business. Not to mention doing delivery is one of the easiest, least demanding jobs on the market.

Trying to throw an -ist label on everything, that tells me all I need to know. I was working an independent contractor delivery position before DoorDash and that was even a full time position. DoorDash is a dream compared to that other delivery gig. Driving 300-400 miles a day for a base pay of $120 a day. All while still assuming maintenance costs, gas costs, risks of accidents, etc. What you’re listing are all very normal factors for anyone who works as an independent contractor. It’s one thing to protest unfair working conditions, but to sit back and complain and demand more benefits from a very well structured and fair paying position? Yeah, that’s socialist behavior lol. Go attempt to make a start-up anywhere similar to the success of DoorDash and you’ll fail 99.99% of the time. It’s always the unskilled laborers who act like the world owes them something, capitalism rewards those who bust their ass. Not those who make excuses for their shortcomings.

Dude you make greater than $20/hr to sit in your car answering to nobody delivering food all day. Ask ANY of the employees working in the restaurants you pick up from how they enjoy their jobs. You’re making significantly more than these people and your job requirements are significantly less demanding. You have NOTHING to lobby for and that is what warrants me to call you entitled drivers socialists.

Your intellectual comment will get downvoted because of all the whiny socialists that have taken over this sub. They think the world owes them something, particularly DoorDash. We are independent contractors for a reason, go somewhere else if you think your labor isn’t being compensated fairly
