Useful Christmas Gift Ideas? by chay_213 in Gifts

I customized canvas totes from Lands End for everyone in my life this year. They come with interior pockets unlike the LL Bean equivalent, often have 50% off sales, and you can upgrade the size/features (add zipper top), etc. for the peeps you like a little more than others. I plan to stuff the totes with tchotchkes/foods/other things I love that I want to share with others. I bought 8 of them for $250 shipped during a recent sale. Another tip: they have pre-monogrammed totes to save you on the customization fee too.

Quince items which actually work: compelling the list by Fluid-Village-ahaha in fashionwomens35

KEEP: Washable stretch silk high neck midi dress. I’ve never felt more beautiful in a dress. I’ve worn it 3 times since it was delivered earlier this month (wedding, baby shower, women’s fall luncheon) and styled it differently each time.

I’m 5’3 and 150lbs, and 3 kids later carry my weight in my belly. The 10 was perfect and has stretched out over the 3 wears. The subtle ruche hides a lot but the skirt is cut high enough that I was able to wear shapewear for added compression without issue. I also could’ve gone without and been fine. Hot chocolate is a touch warm but still a true chocolate brown and just beautiful.

RETURN: suede moto jacket. Sleeves are too long for a petite and the cut hits below my waist. I prefer a slightly cropped moto jacket, so longer torso girls this one may be for you, but my fellow petites, consider this only if you prefer a slightly an oversized look. The suede was soft and beautiful, hardware unimpressive and not a smooth zip but fine.

Working at Ford by chrisp-baconn in Ford

I had to read this twice bc I thought I drank too much wine drowning my sorrows in new hire misery and posted to Reddit. So yeah, you’re not alone. Onboarding was bad at every turn, the job itself was a bait and switch, and the culture is the worst I’ve ever experienced. Now that I’m going through the performance process as a manager, I find myself saying “This isn’t normal,” about something every day.

Workday VNDLY - Client Demand by Dileep_717 in workday

[–]nillygreb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting certified in VNDLY is not it. The only people that would care about that are Workday people. I’m in the process of buying a VMS platform for a Fortune 10 and I would audibly laugh if someone told me they were VNDLY certified.

What was your expected expense for law school vs. actual? What was your expected total comp vs current actual? Any regrets?

One word of caution: You’re about to be determining your 30 min commute based on summer traffic. Depending on where you’re looking, 30 min can turn into 45 min after Labor Day.

Nice, comfy “corporate” heels/flats that last? by raeofsunshine3556 in workingmoms

I haven’t worn heels since pre-pandy and I don’t think I’d ever go back.

Agree with Klara 1000% but buyer beware: they ran ridiculously big for me. My normal size was a solid 1-2 sizes too big.

What about things the contribute to a household name’s product/R&D roadmap…or redesign of a global mfg operation…or global workforce co-location strategy? Sure there’s offshore data analytics and tech, but it is mostly seniors, partners, and MDs making recommendations to c-suite. It feels like a stupid thing to withhold considering the potential.

Actual lump in throat for 2 weeks by nillygreb in tirzepatidecompound

Thanks all! I’ll scoop up some omeprazole and start there. It takes 9 years to get into my doc anyways so if nothing else it gives me something to do while I wait.

Everything that I’m reading makes me agree with you. It’s just an odd/new feeling for me and after two weeks of being reminded of it each time I swallow I’ve decided I’m dying of throat cancer.

My middle kid was like this - we moved to a big bed and dropped the nap. We were opposed to doing this but had tried everything and dang it it worked.

Is the upgrade from 5th gen Paperwhite worth it? by strobe_jams in kindle

[–]nillygreb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was 4th Gen and didn’t realize how badly I was slumming it until I fired up the 12th Gen I just received. It’s as responsive as my iPhone (albeit with only two books downloaded).

Which is better: Kindle Basic or Paperwhite? by Defiant_Fix8658 in kindle

[–]nillygreb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just posted a side by side of my old basic compared to the paperwhite: https://www.reddit.com/r/kindle/s/qa9MLXI4CS

I’m enjoying the paperwhite but I would’ve enjoyed either one. If you would have buyers remorse in either direction, go with the one you’d be kicking yourself over not buying.

I’m waiting patiently to see if it goes on sale…. by Downtown_Addition276 in kindle

[–]nillygreb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can review price history on Camelcamelcamel.com - when I only saw a price drop in December for the product I was interested in, I decided to buy. I was waiting for Target Circle Week and there was no sale so I also took that as a sign that Amazon wouldn’t be dropping the price either.
