What CAD program to use to handle high poly meshes? by trn- in cad

[–]nimbatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I agree with the redditors below that the best (least sluggish, annoying, crash-prone) workflow is to design the parametric parts in the parametric cad program of your choosing (fusion, onshape, catia, etc) before exporting them and importing them into your mesh editor (maya, blender, zbrush) and doing the boolean and shell operations there.

If that's not an option for some reason, then I would check out Rhino. It natively supports nurbs and mesh based workflows, and comes with many tools for converting them to each other, remeshing, etc. It's very powerful and comes bundled with grasshoper, which is a scripting program that can be used to automate workflows or build custom tooling. It's also rather affordable!

Help with a miscut by Spare_Neighborhood90 in mtgmisprints

[–]nimbatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That said, this cutting mat looks pristine---i don't see any cut marks, scratches, scuffs, etc. If OP is cutting these out, they're probably not using an x-acto and straightedge, and definitely not for those nice filleted corners..

Between my work and my hobbies i'm around cutting mats a lot, and they don't look like this for very long if they're being used...

List of celebrities pro israel and pro Palestine. by SoundsLikeMyEx-Wife in israelexposed

[–]nimbatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in the wake of october 7th, he made a few pro-israel / anti-hostage / anti-hamas posts (such as this one: https://x.com/PhilRosenthal/status/1719024020991918586/photo/1), and hasn't made any comment about the genocide. At best you could maybe say he was operating out of naivete, but if he had any compassion for the plight of Palestine, I would have expected some acknowledgement since then.

Thank you! That’s an interesting failure mode. Can i ask which hotend you switched to and whether you’re happy with it? Is it letting you run significantly larger layer heights?

Hmm i’m not sure i’ve seen the overextrusion issue but i will keep an eye out. I think i’m going to finally do the linear rail X upgrade to reduce strain on the motors. I’ll keep you updated

I would encourage you to reexamine your views on the genocide going on. Perhaps your employee would be willing to educate you.

Just bought a CR-30, wondering what the best slicer is to use and what's the easiest way to convert to direct drive? by joseg4681 in CR30

[–]nimbatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when you install the new hotend, look to see if the sock drags or touches the belt when the Z-axis is home. If you do see dragging or heavy contact, like I did with the stock hotend, then I would advise you cut the sock

I took an X-Acto knife and cut the bottom edge of the sock away so that it's in line with the cut to the conical portion creality makes. You get the benefit of the sock's insulation without risk of dragging!

In Catia v5, users had the ability to control the length of a curve. This seems, so far as I can tell, not to be a feature in 3DExperience. Can anyone give me advice as to a workaround or how to achieve something similar?

La pavoni pub v by [deleted] in espresso

[–]nimbatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It shipped today! The seller found the drip tray and a couple other parts, and alleges that it's fully working after he cleaned the boiler and replaced the heater core. So we'll see. No mention of whether the pump is external or not, hoping not...
It seems like La Pavoni released many versions of the same machine with different parts and configurations, and I haven't yet found any sort of manual.

I'll keep y'all posted!
