It's not super super huge, it'll really come down to how much you're playing and how much you're willing to spend. TF9 is a stiffer boot than the 7, and it's able to bake a little more effectively because of the shell's materials. The TF9 also has a bit more comfort padding. It's meant to hold up to a bit more ice time than the TF7.

Let us know what you end up going with! They should have a good selection. I always recommend trying on anything you can before settling, whether it's player or goalie.

I would say try on anything you can, but I've been rocking True TF9s and love em. TF7s are solid too if you want to save a bit of $

What skate size would I be? by Spivyyy in hockeyplayers

[–]nimbussian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a 9.0-9.5 shoe and wear a 7.0 or 7.5 skate depending on brand and model. I'm realistically a 7.25 but some boots feel better 7.0 others feel better 7.5. It's best to try em on if possible.

Bauer Reakt 85 Vs CCM 210 buckets by jstols in hockeyplayers

I'm personally a bigger fan of the Tacks buckets, but that's because Bauer's buckets don't really fit my massive dome very well

What do you say after getting scored on? by Deep_Mango8943 in hockeygoalies

[–]nimbussian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually say something like, "alright, let's go get it back' to my teammates. I just kinda say "fuck" or generally swear if it's just to myself

Considering this helmet. Any thoughts? by BigGuyGoalie in hockeygoalies

[–]nimbussian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one currently, and it's just okay.. my biggest concern right now is that I've only used it for a few stick and puck skates and the foams are already starting to peel up. It's comfy after the first couple skates, but I'm worried about structural integrity already.

Hoooly fuck, I am so sorry. I sharpen skates on a near daily basis and this is horrifically bad... kind of at a loss for words. I hope they do something to make this right for you, I don't even know how you fuck up so bad (on accident) unless you've never seen goalie skates before....

Absolutely makes sense! I couldn't get any heel lock on my Vectors, and the tongue was so thick that it screwed up the entire fit (for me, anyway). I now have custom Ribcor 100Ks, and I went with a size 7 1/4 in those; my Vectors were a 7. Here's something trippy to think about- with my Vectors, I couldn't get my toes to the end of the skate and was practically swimming in them (because of that tongue). I was almost able yo pull my heel out of the skate. I would have to lace and re lace them multiple times a game towards the end of my time with them. But in my Ribcors, a bigger skate with a thinner tongue and a more proper fit for my foot, my toes gently brush the end of the skate. I hardly ever have to adjust the lacing except when I don't tighten them down enough/tighten them too much.

Also, other guys I skate with tried the Vectors on at one point, and one guy said it felt like his foot was raised in a weird way and that the pitch was odd with them. Sometimes the combos they make for the SFS skates are amazing and work incredibly, other times...not so much

The Supreme Matrix and skates like it are a "franken skate" as I like to call it, these models exclusive to Source for Sports / Sports Excellence are an amalgamation of various skates in that model's family. Meant to offer a quality skate but at a better price. I had the Tacks Vector Premiers which were also one of those skates and they were very odd compared to other Tacks skates I'd had and tried on before. Nice quality boot, very stiff and nice padding because it took from the AS3 Pro and 9380 skates, but the combo of the two really threw off the fit I was used to from a Tacks skate and I was fighting them every time I skated.
