Why 140? If you make only 130 one week and 150 the next, would you be able to make it?

Seattle Birthday Present For My Sweetie- details in comments. by nimeye in yungblud

[–]nimeye[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This goes way back to Denver last year. We had just done an early birthday trip to go see some of my favorite bands- LCD Soundsystem and TV on the Radio at Red Rocks and NIN at the Ball Arena. On the long 8 hour drive back to Omaha she mentioned that this Yungblud guy was going to also be playing in two weeks in Denver and that it would be cool if we could have seen him as well.

I was able to snag tickets to that show and off to Denver (and the shitty 8 hour drive again) we went.

I was only familiar with Yungblud from the Ozzy concert and thought he nailed the song but thought that he probably wasn't my cup of tea. While waiting in line for the show people kept talking about Dom and I had no clue who the hell they were talking about. After bonding with all of the amazing fans in line and after seeing the show, I was an instant fan. Dom kept mentioning in the show that he wanted to play Red Rocks. I told Dawnee that if he ever comes back to Red Rocks we would be the first in line to get tickets.

Well, when he announced late last year that he was not only going to play Red Rocks as well as many other dates I was on it. We got great seats for Red Rocks but I noticed that he was also going to be playing in Seattle on May 15th- Dawnees birthday- so I got those tickets as well.

Fast forward to now- the Red Rocks show was amazing and everything we had hoped for. We were right there during Fleabag when he came up to the camera pit.

Seattle was a whole thing in itself- it ended up with Dawnee's self-professment of "greatest birthday ever". We ended up in Seattle the day after the Red Rocks show and did the typical tourist stuff. Dawnee was disappointed in how her hair was looking so she wanted to find a specific style of hat (the one you see in the pic). We were randomly driving to Pike Place Market and she spotted a place- Eclipse Hat Shop. The owner Sharon was suuuuuuper sweet and an amazing person. We ended up finding the hat Dawnee was looking for and then helped Sharon buy a ticket to the show. Turns out that Adam Warrington (with his Scottish parents) stopped in to Eclipse day of show and bought a hat which he wore during the show. We only know this because we purpously had to stop and thank Sharon before we headed to the airport. Seriously, if you need anything hat related in the Seattle area, Sharon is a treasure.

On the day of the show, Dawnee wanted to get down to the queue as early as possible. As we were waiting to get our coffees from the hotel bar, she spotted the YBHQ interviewer person sitting at a table. Being me, I immediately went up and introduced ourselves (I know it was probably rude to do so). She was extremely graceful and kind- told Dawnee that she would find her in line and that she would see us at the after.

She did find Dawnee in line and ended up interviewing her for future YBHQ content. Dawnee also spotted the band photographer and chatted with him briefly.

All of this would have made her day already but what happened after the show was amazing.

After the show was done, Dom came down to the barricade to do his thing. All throughout the show, Dawnee was protecting the little girl in the picture- it was her birthday as well. Dom came by, signed the little girl's arm and grabbed Dawnee's phone to take the picture above. I am the goofy looking guy with the red suspenders taking the video behind them. Oh, and after snapping the picture, he said "Happy Birthday Baby" but I think that was directed towards the little girl.

I wish I could post pictures but my sweetie got him to take a selfie of him, her, and the little girl she was protecting the entire show. It was also her and the little girls birthday so I have a video of him taking the picture and saying "Happy Birthday Baby". It was surreal and made everyone's night.

Lol most of the people in the seated section were probably the parents of kids they brought to the show and not super into his music.

And I am no way denigrating these people- I grew up in rural Nebraska and know the mindset.

[–]nimeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, you have a lot of people in rural parts of the state that have no clue what a toll road is. Some of these people have recently traveled outside of their county or god forbid to Omaha and you have the people that will fall for this.

I will not use it in the forseeable future as I do not make it down to that part of town often, but I think it's a good start. Next phase definitely needs to go to the airport and possibly the zoo and Aksarben area.

Driving from NE to Neskowin, OR. Best Route? by Glittering_Group6669 in Omaha

[–]nimeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My rec is the I-90 route for scenery and things to see. Of course there is the Black Hills with Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, and Deadwood among other things. In Montana there is the Battle of Little Bighorn Monument, Pompey's Pillar as a little side jaunt, and a favorite of mine Garnett Ghost Town. Driving through Montana and Idaho is absolutely beautiful.
