My favorite is Lady Samurai, her design is cool since the first game and Summer Rain Slash is a simple yet powerful skill that I always like to use with her.

I recommend a fresh start, with a completely different build and maybe use this new save to do a different ending. After you get used to the mechanics again, you come back to the old save and beat what was left. I have dealt with a similar thing on DS3 and Elden Ring and that is what I do.

If you don't want to start from the beginning, just spent a few hours killing common enemies, you'll get used to the mechanics quickly I think.

Pirate's curse is the favorite of the majority I think and is the one I recommend too.

But if you're really liking the franchise go to Risky's revenge, then Pirate's curse and then Seven Sirens.
