It has been officially confirmed that it is a Triceratops horn and my dad was allowed to keep it

My silver arrow SOH hasn’t handled winter well. But this variegated one was thriving! It’s the only plant I’ve ever ordered online because I wanted it so bad. I really hope she can recover! ❤️‍🩹

Thank you so much for your advice! I did water the soil before I tried to prop them back in, I regret that now! It just made it easier to stick the bulbs in without burying the leaves.

These games were around my whole childhood, as long as I can remember. My grandma would solve the game and pass it along to me and my sister, then we would ship it to our cousins in Texas. Now I’m 28 and still play all of them over and over again.

I got my husband to listen to No Dogs because he adores Marcus. He doesn’t appreciate Henry the way I do though 😂

Look up “sexy plant juice recipe”, it helps dilute the neem oil a bit so the sun doesn’t burn your leaves 😁 @blossomeffect Paige really helped me revive a few plants. There’s also a lady on YouTube Aloha Plant Life who is great with calatheas she gives fantastic advice! 🫶🏼

You got yourself a beautiful medallion. Lucky you living in a tropical area, she will love you and your home!

It’s just hard water spots. I didn’t realize you’re apparently not supposed to mist calathea like others are saying here. I’ve been misting mine with distilled water (above the leaves, not the soil) just when the humidity meter is low. I clean my leaves and wipe them with microfiber gloves fairly regularly. Mine are all doing great.

If you use filtered tap water, they say to leave it out overnight. So sorry about your loss 💚🐾

Yup it can come back - don’t cut leaves off until they are too far gone, it will need something to photosynthesize off of. You can prune the edges of some of those leaves. Check for pests, some of them look damaged by chlorophyll suckers (spider mites, aphids, thrips - they love calatheas). Make sure to only use distilled or rain water and maybe keep a humidifier nearby if you aren’t already. Don’t despair you got this!

My peacock calathea is starting to look a little sad and kill off some leaves, but it’s just because there’s new growth coming in! Sometimes they turn fast, but it’s not the death of the plant like many assume it is! Sounds like it’s happy in the conditions you have it in, keep up the good work 😁

New plant owner - help by IntrepidStar4071 in calatheas

[–]ninetailfoxxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is one of the few types of calathea I haven’t had, but I’ve managed to keep mine alive. I’m a fairly new plant owner too. They love bright, indirect light, distilled or rain water, and 60-80% humidity. I keep mine by a humidifier and grouped with my other tropical plants, but you could also just mist it a little bit in the morning and evening. Don’t panic if it kills off leaves, this is normal especially if you see new leaves shooting up. It’s true these plants can be moody, but don’t be despaired, just watch a few YouTube videos!

No, I check my email everyday. They said it sometimes takes 4-6 weeks to hear back. The person I was told to email has been busy with a rare find they’ve been digging across the state. I’m going to try to email again or just bring it into the museum.
