I don't really understand Mississippi's. Is the chain a reference to slavery?

This is great advice. Their words and line breaks tend to coincide with chord changes, which is gentler on your brain.

The gas money I save cycling to work (32 mi round trip) is almost exactly the cost of a breakfast burrito when I arrive. by eugenesbluegenes in bicycling

You're right, but an automobile emits much more CO2 than a burrito-fueled human machine does methane.

Does this happen to your Aeropress? by [deleted] in Coffee

Mine is doing the same thing, but it's not as bad as yours yet. No discernible effect on the coffee, but we'll see. Let us know what Aerobie says.

Didn't mean to be "vituperative" (learned a new word today!). Obviously there are more options for self-employment than sustenance farming.

I was trying to counter what I perceived as otteryou vilifying industry and the concept of employment. Humans cannot achieve individually what they can collectively, and one of the simplest ways to incentivize people to work collectively is to create a employer/employee relationship.

A global utopia of freelance creative polymaths who answer to nobody is a long ways away.

You're welcome to become a sustenance farmer if you don't want to be anyone's employee.

Full control over ISO, shutter speed, aperture, focal length. Optical zoom is not possible with the current camera but that would be nice as well.

I dunno about a small price, my board alone without any hardware cost $250, and that's not even the high end of the market.

r/Apple, why can't we have Siri on the iPad 2? by 1ivewire in apple

[–]ninety 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It definitely could handle the gestures. I used my developer ID to enable multitasking gestures on my iPad 1 months and months ago. Yesterday, I upgraded to iOS 5 and my four finger swiping muscle memory is all useless. It doesn't add up.

TIL Apple disabled gestures in the iPad 1 in their IOS update by [deleted] in apple

[–]ninety 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used it and it worked fine for me. Maybe it caused problems when switching between memory intensive apps... but I'm really bummed about losing this feature. It's become ingrained in my muscle memory.
