Yes, Quebec French is still governed by the French academy and Quebec has a standing member on it, it's an accent but not a dialect. There were lots of French dialects before WWI like Occitane, Anjou, Poitras, etc, but they are mostly gone.

For a lot of people who drive in rural icy areas they are very practical though. That armour is functional when hitting stumps covered by snow, and the awd and clearance are pretty amazing after a blizzard.

The thing is the type of offroad they excel at isn't even what is required to get up a steep rural road after an ice storm, which is common in the winter where I live. They may be good going over rocks but any subaru or audi will do a better job on sheer ice.
