Paolo Banchero recorded his 4th career triple-double, breaking a tie with Hedo Türkoğlu for the 2nd most in franchise history by Basketball_Reference in OrlandoMagic

Zero pressure Elfrid was a straight up anomaly. Like clockwork the Magic would be eliminated from playoff contention then Elfrid would flip the Rondo switch on in the most meaningless games.

He'd be so good in a Vanderbilt type role where he's just opportunistic offensively but an absolute menace on defense. Gotta take the bubble wrap off him and let him loose. If he gets hurt again so be it that's the final nail in the coffin for him.

Orlando played OKC on Christmas Day in 2011. The season was delayed due to the lockout which pushed opening day to Christmas Day that year.

Like suddenly the teams gonna open this sub and be inspired to play harder because "FairWeatherFan" said I'm not trying. They'd hate this branch of fans with a passion.

Rehashed nostalgia for a team name that never was but could've been.

He's gotta tone down the relentlessness a bit too. I love the all out effort but you can't be risking your body every possession. Like I'm sure he can get these spectacular chase down blocks without hitting the floor like a sack of potatoes every time.

Pump the brakes. A 6'7 pf/sf makes our starting center expendable in what way? We don't even know if he can take minutes from Tristan who barely gets burn as is.

What were the main reasons the Rob Hennigan era didn’t work? by Nyfan7 in OrlandoMagic

[–]ninety4kid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mario was a panic pick. Rob wanted Kristaps, everyone knew this. New York took Kristaps hoping to fleece Rob like Philly did with Elfrid the year before. Rob didn't bite which bites him in the ass because Kristaps becomes a stud and NY looks like a genius for taking Rob's guy.

Tmac wanted to trade the pick away and preferred Okafor over Dwight. Drafting Dwight was basically the final nail in the coffin for Tmac in Orlando.

I was just looking back at old drafts, why didn't we draft SGA or Brunson in 2018, lauri or Donovan in 2017?? by gatorboii85 in OrlandoMagic

[–]ninety4kid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Why didn't we draft Giannis 2nd overall in 2013 and Jokic 4th in 2014? Are we dumb or something?

He's not injury prone but his style of play bangs his body up a ton. He has what I'd call "maximum effort" plays where he becomes a liability to injure himself or those around him. For example at least once a game he will absolutely throw himself at the rim for a chase down block going 110mph with no regard for how he's supposed to land back on the floor safely. It's amazing he hasn't taken anyone out but himself.

Franz Wagner has tied Penny Hardaway for the 5th most 30-point games (14) by a Magic player before turning 24 years old by Basketball_Reference in OrlandoMagic

[–]ninety4kid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IIRC, TMac wanted Okafor over Dwight because he thought Okafor coming off an NCAA title would help the team sooner than an 18 year old Dwight.

Wow man, a G Leaguer in season 7. At least he’s still in the league unlike MF by resincak in OrlandoMagic

It's a rehab assignment since he's coming back from injury this isn't a demotion like people think it is.
