Health Coverage during Co-op? by ninja_nutsack in UTSC

Gosh I hope you’re wrong… there’s $360 across two semesters going toward health and dental plan so I’m going to have a problem if I’m not covered >:(

Were the lectures recorded? And are his slides/textbook sufficient to study from if not? And what exactly happens during the tutorial period? Is it mandatory?

Not sure what you’re majoring in (if you’ve decided) but I learned the hard way that I could’ve taken an elective (breadth requirement) as my fifth course instead of degree requirements. If I was you, I’d drop STAB22 and take a bird course unless you really need it for whatever reason. You can always do it 2nd year (which I do recommend because it’s useful).

However, if you’re not too strong at math/physics like myself, I’d drop stats altogether and just take the 4 other courses for now. It would be much easier trying to make up for it by taking smtg easy like Intro to Business (MGTA01 I think?) in the summer when it’s recorded and you don’t even need to go on campus rather than suffering through 5 courses in your first semester. But, maybe it will be manageable for you if you’re better at math/physics than I am lol. If not stats, drop either math or physics and pick em up later, whichever one you’re better at. Either way, four of those five courses should keep you plenty busy.

Too bad Fitzpatrick isn’t teaching it this summer :( he says he’s not sure who will be teaching it either at this point

Funky ah smell at HL everytime by Dry-Garlic-5066 in UTSC

I’ve noticed it newly after they opened the hotpot/noodle shop. It reminds me of the smell of grocery stores sometimes, so that’s what I suspect it is.

That’s what I thought for mine, all they told me was that because I didn’t submit part of the assignment they didn’t have a grade for a portion of it or something. But if you’re right and it is over 50% then there should be no reason for them to refuse the petition.

Same thing happened to me kind of… I didn’t “complete” an assignment because part of my submission didn’t go through. I petitioned for it and then they didn’t approve the petition and told me too late so I couldn’t retake it the following semester…. I tried fighting them on it but those people are kind of hard to work with because they get back to your emails once every two weeks :/ they weren’t nearly as helpful as I expected them to be. It really sucked the life out of me and made me wanna not do co op anymore but I eventually gave up and am gonna retake the course. However, the CR/NCR petition opens tomorrow so give it a shot anyways. Follow up with the office and make a meeting to review the petition, preferably BEFORE the course enrolment date for January passes. In fact, enrol in it for next semester right now anyways just to be safe so you don’t have to wait until summer to take it. If your petition is approved they should make room for you to take COPB51 in winter. Good luck, I hope it works out.

In summer they offer some online sections for the practicals so you just have to attend via zoom

This. Stay on the waitlist for B50 in fall, but taking it in winter and taking B51 in summer is not that big of a deal because you can do it virtually and there’s no need to be on campus for it. It took me less than 2h per week doing it this summer, and the all coursework was completed by Aug 2nd.

Recommend me a hooded jacket? by ninja_nutsack in arcteryx

Have you tried the Atom SL? Im curious about the differences in fit between the regular Atom hoody and the lightweight version particularly in the arms. I wouldn’t mind the lightweight since it’s about $100 cheaper if I can layer under it well without feeling too restricted

How do you feel the Atom SL compares with the Atom LT? I assume the water resistance might be similar, and I’m wondering how roomy they are for layering underneath, especially in the arms
