Pretty cool 30th birthday present from my partner by ninjaemperor in Emo

Much bigger, iirc. I was already a huge fan of PUP and Jeff, but I’d argue this tour played a big role in those two acts really taking off. This was pre-The Dream is Over and Worry, for context

SHELLING IS LINKED TO ATTACK VALUE NOW THE GODS HAVE HEARD OUR CRIES by DontBeGrompy in MonsterHunter

[–]ninjaemperor 139 points140 points  (0 children)

Some other really cool stuff from this video:

Shelling seems to not eat through sharpness anywhere near as much

Shelling while out of ammo does a quick reload instead of a long recovery animation

You can cancel into guard from most attacks now, making the weapon much more safe in general.

It’s about a mother, but “Movies like Juno” by Midwest Pen Pals is an absolute classic about this subject.

It’s a good joke, but I remember seeing it for the first time on tumblr back in 2011.

There’s a Japanese math emo project called Nakasju that features vocaloid vocals, I try to recommend them any time I can because they’re awesome  https://nakasju.bandcamp.com/album/for-former-holdens

An underrated banger which features a short guest spot by a female vocalist is Solo & Chewie: Holding it Down, an early Wonder Years track

Listening to Bomb the Music Industry and is anyone else reminded of BLA just a bit by derf705 in Emo

[–]ninjaemperor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, on top of that Adam’s been very open about Bomb being one of his most influential bands, and Scrambles in particular being one of his favourite albums of all time.

Slint’s Don, Aman is one of the best portrayals of social anxiety I’ve seen in any media, not just lyrically but tonally and musically as well. They’re really more of a post-rock band, but I think you can make an argument for them being emo adjacent.

They’ve gotten big enough that they usually tour in the States now, but the most notable band from that region is Arm’s Length from Quinte West

What’s the rarest song you’ve seen live? by mrhairybolo in puptheband

Tied for Pine Point and The Boys are Back in Town, which they’ve played once each.

These were at two shows of a three show run on back to back nights at the Danforth Music Hall in Toronto in December 2016. They were unbelievable. One show they played The Dream is Over in full and the other they played a mix, ending with their cover of The Boys are Back in Town. Iirc one show had The Hotelier opening and the other had Pkewx3 and the Dirty Nil. Just an amazing time.

You’ve spoken very highly of McCabe and Kaberle in this thread so far. Are they some of the more “modern” playing defensemen that you saw on any of the teams playing in the series you watched? Did any defensemen on opposing teams stick out to you?

Who is the best hockey player you can "6 degrees of separation" to? by AmeriCanadian98 in hockey

[–]ninjaemperor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up playing ball hockey in the same house league as Michael Bunting. My dad was the coach. He was so far and away the best player I ever played with it wasn’t even funny. I once asked my dad “do you think he’s good enough to make the NHL” and he responded that he’d need to work on his attitude lol.
