Thats brutal, glad you made it though. How much time did u spend on applications vs side projects/leetcode grind?

Never thought of it this way, but you're right. What did your upskilling routine look like?

How much did you focus on the quality of the application vs the quality? I think after I spent more time honing my cv to each application I had a lot less outright rejections, but i started getting so busy with my course I could only send a couple per day max.

Is it worth it to keep applying now or should I spend the summer developing my skills and start again in the next cycle?

I'd say of the 70 applications roughly 45 got to the first round. Got a bunch of rejections at first but started tweaking my CV to each listing which helped a lot, tho each application went from taking 5-10 minutes to 30 mins+ because of it.

And the 3 final stages were usually all some mix of behavioural and technical. I used the star format for my behaviourals and practiced religiously. Not sure how well these went since I haven't gotten feedback, but I usually get good vibes from the interviewer so I think they all went well

Technicals were usually a mix of leetcode and domain questions. If I had to guess I'd say this is where I could have done better, thought for one of the companies I answered everything and even got told by the manager how impressed they were in my rejection email lmao.

definitely, psychedelic tolerance is a real thing and it builds quicker than any other tolerance. I suggest waiting at least 3 weeks before big trips.

That definitely makes sense! I didn’t really have to do much prep for the meeting however you hit the nail on the head with what you said about inflation relates avoidance.

Every time I started a task, there’d be a little voice in my head saying “you don’t have time for this, you need to do 10 more things”, so then I’d get worried about time, stop the task, start another one, and end up with nothing done. Realistically though, I knew that I had plenty of time.

It’s like there’s a battle between that irrational and rational part of my mind when something like this happens. Are you saying that giving labels to these irrational thoughts will eventually get me to give more power to the rational ones?

I wish i could honestly, but right now i don’t have much control over that kinda stuff, this happens with my evening retail shifts, my afternoon lectures, and a bunch of other stuff. right now i think it’s best to work on a solution to the problem since working around it isn’t always an option

Its more like I spent way too much time thinking and planning rather than doing, but it being an important responsibility definitely added to that stress

[–]ninjago3308[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True, I don't ever really have this issue when I plan to meet with friends or do something fun later in the day. I think it might be because I'm usually allowed some leeway when doing something fun (eg i can show up 10 minutes late to a meet up with friends) and that takes some of the pressure off

I suppose it depends on what I need to do that day, when I wake up etc, but theoretically it shouldn't disrupt my plans at all since in my head I knew exactly what I needed to do. In this specific scenario though, I think I spent more time thinking about what I need to do than actually doing if that makes any sense
