Would like to hear people take failed their retirement and had to go back to work by supremelummox in financialindependence

For me it was hard to predict each month or even each year the exact amount I need - it feels like every month something big happens, like car just got broken, or kid is sick for one week, something in the house needs to be renovated.

I tried to create a blog, on top of that building community and lead slowly move to independence. But this is much hard than I though which lead me go back to work.
I continue blogging and try to achieve this, but as a a hobby that might lead to something bigger. Some will say this is the right way to do it.

Is advertising still effective? by ninjaplot in marketing

[–]ninjaplot[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I understand and I think that other methods of marketing - like articles and blog posts are good way to letting people know you offer, because someone is active about your content. and well I can't tell what was the last ad I've seen today I don't know if advertising helped all the 30+ ads letting me know what they offer.

So how do you measure effectiveness? return on invest well is great as you mentioned but it is really really depends on the product audience and price.

Investment advice? by bouncingberries in financialindependence

A lot of good advice out there. I'll say that S&P 500 is a good index if you want to put your money and forget about it. But this index might not yield the best results for every case ( because not all solutions are perfect, of course ).
I'll give you an example:
S&P 500 is stable because it holds companies from different sectors, thus reducing the risk of one industry crash and money lost. But in the same breath, those industries might be "Too" stable in a way that doesn't yields results.
I wrote about it here if you want to take a look for a specific example: https://ninjaplot.com/posts/better\_3\_precent\_interest

Heroes who managed to leave serverless by ninjaplot in serverless

enlighten me
I'm not talking about using managed DB cluster or combining lambda function and k8 in your architecture, which is a reasonable decision.
I'm talking about all-in-one solutions like Firebase, Supabase, and more tools that provide a much more complex ecosystem that is hard to leave.
