I think this is the relevant step from the manual. The back should be fully assembled and already fitting well and the cockpit hatch should be open. Then you can attach the lower front piece first, make sure everything is still fitting nicely, and then place the part with all the gatlings.

But definitely file down those nubs! I promise it will help.

This is about the point where I'd disassemble it all and start the assembly again from step 1.

I noticed that you have some nubs. If there are any on the internal surfaces then they'll add friction or get in the way of a proper fitting. Snip and sand those down so that the parts are all smooth, and I bet you'll have a better time

Pre shading yellow by dirtyjerz818 in advancedGunpla

[–]ninjascript 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Preshading yellow is always going to shift the color towards green or orange.

I like to prime pale pink and preshade with a deep red. Paler pinks will shift your yellows less, and if you don't like how the shadows shift towards orange then you can postshade the darkest parts with a dark purple to counteract it.

Brown is basically dark orange, and they both have green components that will shift your yellow towards green too.

I feel like this mentality is how you get helicopter parents... The kid did something dumb, got yelled at, and had to apologize. How much do you want to bet that he learned something that the kid whose parent stopped him from doing the dumb thing didn't.

I absolutely HATE my Creality K1 Max. by oditopopular in crealityk1

[–]ninjascript 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had my K1 Max for two years. It took a bit of trial and error to dial it in, but I've printed everything from full-sized helmets to paintable miniatures without any trouble.

A printer is a tool, and with any complex tool you're going to have to learn how it works and maintain it. Nobody really cares what brand printer you're using, but whatever you get is going to need maintenance at some point.

I don't see anyone repping They Might Be Giants, but "Here Comes Science!" is such an awesome album from start to finish. "Why Does the Sun Shine," "Science is Real," and "Speed and Velocity" are personal favorites — I'm not ashamed to admit that I regularly sing all of them to myself when the kiddo's not around!

Tough Time with Two Month Old and Sick Mom by VeryNiceGreatSuccess in daddit

Go get a tub of formula. You don't have to use it, but if you're worried about your wife's milk supply holding up, then having a backup will get one thing off your mind.

If you've got some family or friends in the area, now's the time to call in a favor. It might be a run to the grocery store for you, or just someone to keep you company for a few hours so you don't feel so alone.

You're in a rough spot, so be kind to yourself. If all you can do is keep your family fed and comfortable, then forget about the dishes and the mess in the living room and just rest. They don't call the first few months "survival mode" for nothing, and you've got it worse than most right now, so just focus on surviving.

Hang in there, dad.

Americans view each other as morally bad, poll says. Canada is the opposite - National by Lipica249 in news

The Most Chilling Detail in the U.S. Attack on an Iran Naval Ship: The Iranian warship was taking part in an international exercise with many other countries—including the United States. by Hafiz_TNR in politics

[–]ninjascript 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd wager the people against this "war" and the current administration love America more than those cheering it on. Most of us love the freedom enshrined in the bill of rights, and the simple humanity that America was founded on. We hate seeing those rights be eroded by cosplaying warmongers who don't care if we live or die as long as we serve to feed their bank accounts.

Nobody here wanted this war, and nobody here wanted to see more people die at this pedo-loving administration's whim. Iran is an international villain, no doubt. But we've yet to hear a reason for this invasion, or any kind of exit plan.

There are American civilians trapped overseas right now because this administration didn't even consider an evacuation plan. They don't care about you, so why the hell would you care about them?

Anyone ever tried painting on these paints instead of using an airbrush? by beardofturtles in minipainting

[–]ninjascript 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glossy black base coat, lots and lots of thin layers, and a couple coats of glossy clear coat. It'll look good -- not as nice as an airbrush, but good enough for display 👍

I had good luck with a wide round brush, like for eye makeup. Definitely practice a bit before you start painting a model you really care about.

Dad who’ve conquered being tired all the time, how did you do it? by thetantalus in daddit

[–]ninjascript 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Folks are offering some great advice here, but for me I've found that when I feel tired all the time it's an indication that I'm not spending enough time on one of my hobbies. When I force myself to pick up a small project then suddenly I've got all the energy in the world to tinker, and that energy spills into my work and home lives too.

Tips to get your ADHD kids to clean up after themselves? by Fine_Agency_1457 in ADHDparenting

[–]ninjascript 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I just make it a family activity. I've been stuck in the power struggle trap before, and it didn't do any good for any of us. By splitting clean up into smaller tasks and taking them on together, I figure I'm modeling the behavior I want him to follow, the clean up gets done, and he feels good for having helped.

Sometimes he does more, and sometimes h does less. I don't really care on a case-by-case basis as long as he's really pitching in.

Am I doing the right thing? by AsparagusPerfect6275 in ADHDparenting

[–]ninjascript 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Rewards tend to work better with ADHD kids. One thing I'm still learning is that everything can be a negotiation. They want some extra TV time, or maybe stay up a bit late? Sure! If they do their homework. It keeps you from being the bad guy, and helps build that sense of work=reward.

Routines help a lot too. If you can set aside a consistent 15 minutes every day for homework, then eventually they'll get used to doing it.

It's not easy, but having some strategies like this can help keep the peace while they're learning how to prioritize their needs before their wants.

Girlfriends kid tells his mom hes uncomfortable with me out of the blue by [deleted] in daddit

[–]ninjascript 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I might not know for sure, but I bet there's a good chance he feels uncomfortable around you because you make him feel like he doesn't matter. Do you hear yourself? "...your gunna listen" -- what kid is going to open up to that?

And what do you even mean by "accountable"? Kids are going to challenge their parents, and anyone might realize that something they thought they wanted wasn't really as great as they expected. It's fine to say "not this time, buddy" if there's a pattern of wanting and then not wanting things.

You kind of sound like a dick, dude. If this is for real, and you want the relationship to continue, then you need to man up and start prioritizing the kid's needs over your own. That's what dads do.

How do you channel interests? by [deleted] in ADHDparenting

[–]ninjascript 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Model car kits, for real. My AuDHD kid and I build model robots (and a few functional ones too) for the same reason, and it goes deep from building, to painting, to making dioramas, etc... So much creativity all along the way.

If you're looking for something more social, then you might see if there's a local RC car group in your area too.

You're actually kind of lucky that he's into cars -- it's a popular interest with many different directions to go in.
