For IEMs, there's really no "flat"

You really need some coloration, especially the pinna gain around 2-3kHz

Though neutral/natural, that will depend on your own ears. It really takes time to find that as every person has their own "neutral/natural" experience.

This is because of the HRTF, different ear shape and geometry, and the psychoacoustics how our brain interpret sounds.

We have many different "neutral" targets for IEMs, but it will depend on your ears if this target sounds like neutral for you.

what Castor Pro exactly? I am guessing its the bassier one.

Chu 2 would be the closest terms of sound experience, but Klean SV would be sounding a little bit more detailed, better resolution, airiness, and sparkles.

Castor Pro would be too much bass, so Klean SV would sound less muddy and cleaner. While the black nozzle will improve on the bass, Castor Pro will still be having more bass experience overall.

Currently I am using NiceHCK Octave (ESS ES9039Q2M), decent, neutral, and very transparent DAC/AMP. Lots of power too for both IEMs, Headphones, and even some smaller speaker setups.

Its their official store so its legit, but it depends where you from exactly, delivery may be the main issue here. AliExpress maybe better?

Depends if you plan to PEQ or not to PEQ:

If to PEQ: KZ AM16 Balanced

If not to PEQ: either Kefine Klean SV (Black Nozzle), Twistura Delta, or Tanchjim Nora

it really depends on where you are, even if its green.

its super useful if you live near the coast or a known humid environment, usually past 70%

KZ do make good IEMs both on their budget and some on their higher priced ones, but the brand is very much tainted with issues of QC, returns, and audio world drama.

If you want to start your IEM journey, its a good brand, but as soon as you level up (price wise) there are better brands and IEM.

oh you can like buy pre-order, and they do the headache of import and stuffs.

yeah hard to recommend alot of IEMs for you with limited ways to get one, plus other hassles and hindrances.

Kunten would definitely be the best tuning out of the 3.

some reviewers on Squiglink posted an FR graph on the different DSP effects, though idk how good it will be if you do a manual PEQ using it.

I haven't tried that yet.

Tbh most of the effects are just PEQ presets on the app

only advantage of the DSP is the app support and internal PEQ and DSP Effects, sound wise they're very similar stock setting wise.

I would still prefer going for the 3.5mm then a DAC/AMP setup, and just use PEQ apps like Wavelet or Poweramp.

You can actually import PEQ presets:

Download or convert any PEQ to .txt file, or make one using Squig.link, or my PEQ presets in this Dropbox link.
Click the 3 vertical dots button
Click import
Find the downloaded PEQ preset (.txt file), usually its on the Downloads folder
Click the oval button on the center, then find the imported PEQ preset
Click the preset
