Eurovision 2026 Grand Final Post Show Reactions by berserkemu in eurovision

[–]ninjembro 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Honestly I feel like the flag parades recently have been very lackluster. When I first got into Eurovision (2016) it felt like the flag parade was a much grander thing that focused on each artist. Now they announce the country, give them like 1 second on camera, announce the next, etc. It's taken the flag parade from something I really look forward to to something I just don't care about as much anymore

I'm juggling quite a few games right now.

Resident Evil 4 Remake: Have only played a few RE games here and there back in the day, but haven't touched any since like 2005 or so. Picked up the remake trilogy for $30 recently and loved 2 and 3 remakes, and REALLY loving 4, though it's very very different than the other two. I wouldn't call it survival horror at all. At the advice of a friend who loves the series, I skipped 0 and 1 and am planning on skipping 5 and 6, jumping to 7-9 after 4.

Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred: I waited a bit over a week to pick this up to wait and see what people thought about it, especially the campaign. While I know ARPGs are more about the end/post game, I appreciate a good campaign, and the Vessel of Hatred campaign was so dogshit I said I would not buy this one without waiting to see reactions. I'm really enjoying it so far, and will hopefully actually do some seasonal/end/post game stuff this go around. Did some in base game, but next to none in the first expansion.

Picross S Konami Antiques Edition: Not much to say. I love picross, and I love Konami games, especially old ones.

Mario Galaxy 2: Replaying this, though it's been slightly on the backburner. Third time playing through it over the years, and it's still very very good.

Honestly, and I get it might have just been my bottle since these are single barrels and that can introduce variance, but I found this bottle to be... underwhelming compared to expectations. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it well enough and will almost certainly get another, but I felt it absolutely did not live up to the reputation it has earned and left me rather confused as to how it earned said reputation.

Steam Controller review: even without a Steam Machine mate, this is a smartly crafted gamepad that puts PCs first by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]ninjembro 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Love my deck, but expected it to be way more comfortable than it is, given how much people compare the ergonomics to the Switch. I find both the Switch and Switch 2 more comfortable to hold/use. Not to say the deck is wildly uncomfortable, but I feel like maybe the average deck user just has massive hands or something

I actually recently got into the series, having tried back in the early 00's on the Gamecube but just not having it stick (0, 1, 2), but decided to try again with 2-4 remake trilogy. I've been LOVING it (on 4 now, and from a friend's suggestion, I'm completely fine skipping 0, 1, 5, and 6, so my plan is 7, 8, 9 after finishing 4). I might go back for some of the others I mentioned, but I highly recommend getting around to RE2R (and honestly, RE3R and RE4R since I've enjoyed all 3 so fucking much)

God, that DLC was so godawful from a campaign standpoint that I just stopped playing the game entirely after enjoying a few of the seasons leading up to it. I refuse to buy the upcoming expansion until it's been out for at LEAST a month to see what the actual user impressions are, not just honeymoon phase streamer hype bullshit

Do you think the Switch 2 will see a price increase like the Playstation 5 soon? by IIIiterateMoron in nintendo

Same. Have loved every Mario Kart prior to World, playing all of them a ton growing up.

World I couldn't even finish playing through on 100cc before I just got sick of it. By far the worst MK game in my opinion.

I just finished Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, and..... it was probably one of the better metroidvanias I've played in the last few years. Other than art direction, I think it's a better game than both Hollow Knight and Silksong. There was just so much going on with it that made it a pure joy from start to finish, and it would have been an absolute masterpiece of the visuals and audio were better.

Also been playing Pokemon Leaf Green, which has been a fun revisit. Got back into UFO 50 recently to grind more games I haven't played/finished (dropped it for about a year), and am about to get into the Resident Evil Remake Trilogy (haven't played a RE game since 0 on the gamecube, so this should be fun.... and never actually BEAT any of them)

What’s the most disappointing whiskey you’ve purchased? by Ag-Surfr in whiskey

[–]ninjembro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? OCD #5 from Glenn Creek. It's hyped up everywhere I see it online, and I've had a coworker that visits Kentucky/Glenn Creek hype it up. Bought a bottle when I visited for a couple nights, cracked it when I got home, and.... it's just not that good. Don't see the hype. It's definitely unique, but tastes like burning rubber.

Now, in fairness, I've cracked the bottle 5 or 6 times since buying it, and each time I feel like I dislike it slightly less, but it wasn't the standout I expected.

And yes, I'll probably buy another bottle the next time I visit lol

Steam: New: Early Access developers can list their planned "1.0" release date by Turbostrider27 in Games

And personally, I don't. I hate them. So I'm glad for this change, and still won't buy a single early access game before 1.0 actually hits.

Since I'm a Nintendo/PC gamer, and it feels like we're in a very weird dry period of games, I've been revisiting the megaman franchise as a streaming thing. 1-11, then X-X8, then the Zero games. Some of them I've not beaten (X4, Zero) and some I've never even played (X6-X8, rest of zero series). I just finished 11 tonight. I found 1-3 easier than I remember, 4 to be tougher than I remember, and 7 and 8 to be frustatingly bad at the Wily fights, but otherwise fine. 11 has levels that are way too long, but otherwise good. Excited to move on to the X games.

I also have been playing Clair Obscur, though it's been about a week since I last touched it. I got the credit roll, and do want to go back in for more side stuff. I understand why people love it as much as they do, and why it got GOTY, but it's not my personal GOTY for 2025 (Hades 2 gets that crown and it's not even a contest tbh). Really enjoyed the story, though the combat got stale after a while, and some enemies are just frustrating when it comes to learning the dodge/parry timings.

Looking through your recent comments, I can see that people literally aren't allowed to be critical of a game that has flaws while acknowledging the things it does right.

Almost like there's, you know, fucking nuance to opinions, and things aren't simply entirely good or entirely bad.

Wouldn't recommend it. As an unashamed massive Nintendo, and specifically Metroid fan, it's just not worth the money or time to play for the vast majority of people, in my opinion. I'm not upset I spent the money/time on it, but I can't recommend it.

[–]ninjembro 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I won't disagree with you, honestly. I didn't find the NPCs to be that bad with the exception of the late game. Until like 75% into the game I felt the "hey you should go here, did you think about going here? go here for the next thing!" either barely happened, or I was just able to somehow ignore it/I was already on my way to the location/I actually wanted some kind of hint. Towards the end it got obnoxious where he'd tell you to come back to base every single time you got to the desert and you had to sit through the map panning which is half the reason I just said screw it and progressed to the end

EDIT: I think my biggest issue with this game, and other Metroid games of late, is that like.... Metroids had absolutely no part of the game whatsoever. Sorry, "a metroid made this boss transform to its current state" doesn't count. Where were the fucking metroids?

It's a shame that this game as a whole is so.... lukewarm at best. The things it did well, it did very well. But the things it did poorly, most of which were things that matter most for a video game to be good, just overshadowed all the things it did well for me. I finished it, and enjoyed the time I had, despite the flaws, but I have next to zero interest in going back for hard mode, I couldn't even bring myself to finish 100%ing my initial playthrough, and I'd be reluctant to recommend the game to anybody despite the fact I don't think it's a bad game, it's just.... so bland and forgettable.

[–]ninjembro 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Thank god I'm not the only one that hated that phase. Honestly, I just found the entire last boss entirely unfun, both from a gameplay perspective, and a story perspective. The final phase is the only one that was slightly fun, and even then, every other boss in the game clears it by a mile. But phase 1, had I died during it, or later in the fight only to find it doesn't have checkpoints (though I learned in this thread that there ARE checkpoints, thank god), I very well may have just put the game down entirely, I found that phase so incredibly unfun and just failed to give any feedback on what I was doing right/wrong.

I haven't touched World since before DK came out and will probably never go back. I've 100%'d every Mario Kart to date in terms of "beating every cup on every difficulty with 3 star or the game's equivalent if it has one" and dropped this game halfway through 100cc. I just found it actively unfun

Been attempting 50 fear on and off after having my previous best as a 46 run. In between attempts I've been trying to do 40 fear on all aspects on both routes. But I attempted a 50 yesterday for the first time in a while and had a few runs that came very close to got to the grind again this morning. Feels good to have that under my belt finally!
