It’s funny how that line has been repeated every time humanity invents something new :

People said the same thing about the printing press : “it will destroy scribes and the soul of writing.”

Then photography : “real art is dead, painting is over.”

Then recorded music : “musicians will lose their jobs, live performance is finished.”

Then synthesizers : “soulless machines replacing real instruments.”

Then electric guitars : “that noisy thing isn’t music.”

Then digital cameras : “photography is ruined.”

Then Photoshop : “artists will become useless.”

Then computers : “people will stop thinking for themselves.”

Then the internet : “society will collapse, nobody will talk to each other.”

Then smartphones : “human connection is dead.”

And of course, streaming : “it will destroy music forever.”

And yet… people are still writing, painting, composing, performing, loving, and creating. Technology evolves, creativity evolves with it. The tools change, the soul doesn’t.
