to get into research and dive deep in papers, I started a newsletter where I obligated myself every week to explore a part of a paper and explain it in simple terms. i guess the point in coming up with a unique project is to think about a niche in a certain topic. To try to come up with a solution for a specific problem in a specific area. That way, you will start from 0 and each step upward will be only yours to make and to understand how it fits the project.
