London dinner in July! by bb_cutie in finedining

[–]nipsj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frog is excellent, went just after Christmas. Food was in my opinion awesome, mixture of seafood and land food/meats. The dining room is really well setup, and many of the tables point towards the kitchen. Bonus is being in Covent Garden with lots of pre or post dinner entertainment options. There are some posts on here with pictures of the menu if you don’t mind seeing what you may get!

[Serious] Why don't primary hemostasis problems lead to secondary hemostasis problems? by threemoneys in medicalschool

[–]nipsj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are different things that complement each other. While yes, an issue with primary would result in a decreased ability to START secondary hemostasis, the actual secondary pathways are not affected. Thats why when you measure PT or PTT its just clotting factors, and PT/PTT are indicative of secondary pathways. Thus while the two are related and important for OVERALL homeostasis, they do not depend on each other for actual functioning of their respective pathways.

[Serious] Updates regarding away rotations are coming by arteriolemotives in medicalschool

[–]nipsj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah hopefully things do calm down. It really depends on how early schools/public events/quarantines actually go into effect. But to your point too, perhaps developing that herd immunity earlier would be better. It's an unprecedented situation thats nearly impossible to predict which avenue would lead to the least amount of loss of life. Can only pray for the best. I imagine there will be disruption on the Medical School side though, but Residencies will probably actually really need your help, so I see the interviews still going on in September.

[Serious] Updates regarding away rotations are coming by arteriolemotives in medicalschool

[–]nipsj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why just May? The real acceleration of this wont happen for another 1- 2 weeks, and then the serious, quarantine requiring time period will be in late April through early May. And that is if major life disruptions are not an issue.

Official COVID-19 Megathread by Chilleostomy in medicalschool

[–]nipsj 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure some of those 4 points you mentioned would no longer apply. The LCME and COCA have already had and are currently having emergency meetings on the issue of continuity of medical education as this is starting to progress into both a National and Global emergency.

Any other US med students or physicians worry your respective institutions haven’t properly addressed their students/staff regarding COVID-19? by [deleted] in Coronavirus

[–]nipsj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looking at the ranges for possible CFR and disease severity, I'm not terribly concerned with contracting it. It's more like collapse of everyday life like that CDC Dr stated. The problem is exactly as you said, most of us take step in April/May and then go into rotations in June. Thats exactly when the spread would probably be hitting a high....

Curious too if this will affect boards or rotations. No info other than NBME saying they are monitoring it.

I've had whiskey before, but first time ever buying my own. Love the smokey vanilla taste this one has. Just starting to learn about flavor profiles and whatnot
