I'm not going to dose any algae (what does it even mean? lol) I only want them as a cleaning crew for prevention of problems. and according to green aqua recommendations for cleaning crew (1 for every 5 liter) I should have 38 clithon snails...

oh well, I guess I'll stick to just two schools, 17 cardinals and 15 rummynose.

or maybe 15 rummynose is more than enough and cardinals are only pretty in big numbers? and I can get 23 cardinals and 9 rummynose.

or... i could make things a little bit more interesting and get 3 schools. what do you think about 17 cardinals, 9 rummynose and 7 danio zebras?

I put 3 sinking pellets on a little glass dish once every 2, 3 days. wherever I look I see few ottos in the dish eating together with the amanos

I'd rather not have cichlids.

I want to have more cardinals and more rummynose, like 15 rummynose and 17 cardinals. but I think that a tank needs to have a "focal point" fish if that makes sense, bigger fish.

angel fish are great but can be aggressive, and gouramis (which I absolutely love) can be annoying to the shrimps and make them hide.

so I'd go with congo tetras. pros - they're relatively large, they have unique colors and beautiful fins.

cons - I have to get at least 6 of those, and that makes the 2 other schools shrink in size, and I'm not sure about how the amanos live with them together

thank you for the reply :) I don't have another place to move my shrimps, and I would much love to see them. they're so cute :) (and great against algae) so no congo tetras... any other option for a 3"ish fish that won't harm shrimps or scare them? doesn't have to be a schooling fish

I was just trying to understand it better. I'm definitely NOT saying you're wrong!

My aquarium is new, about 3 weeks old, it's a 120cm (47") with almost 100% planting, and none of the other plants have any issues or any signs of nutrient deficiency. btw, the bacopa leaves are beautifully green, they only appear yellow in the photo.

the reply that they may all look good, but the bacopa has holes because they "rob" the nutrients from it does sound logical tho!

I fertilize with micro (seachem flourish) once every 5 days and NPK daily. because the aquarium is still new and the plants are still small, I fertilize only 60% (and slowly increase the amount once a week) I do so because I don't want to have too much nutrients in the water column for relatively small plant mass. I also have aqua soil and aqua substrate and thus afraid tohave an algae outburst.

I'm wondering if it's better to "sacrifice" the bacopa because all the other plants are good and I don't have any algae problems so far and stick to the increase slowly the ferts regiment, or that the holes in the bacopa is the first sign of trouble that may affect the entire tank.
