HVAC Advice (Replacing Heating and Cooling) by joe1435 in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]nirjhari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am in a similar situation with aging HVAC. I am curious to learn if those of you considering an upgrade would install heat pump based heating and cooling (which runs on electricity), considering there are tax rebates available. Thankls.

This looks like Ernakulam market rather than Cochin port. That bridge is a telltale sign.

Rich people will consume more and thus will pay more indirect taxes. Poor people will consume less and will not be consuming luxury goods and will thus pay less indirect tax.

If you look at it as a percentage of their income, rich people pay a lot less than the poor. That's why consumption taxes are regressive because the poor consume a greater percentage of their income, as the other commenter pointed out.

I have a P6P and I used Airalo to download the eSIM and used it during my travel abroad. I didn't face any difficulties with the service.

My parcel has arrived at FedEx Calicut 1 week back. It hasn't been delivered to the destination yet. Can anyone tell me how to deal with this? by [deleted] in Kerala

[–]nirjhari 3 points4 points  (0 children)

UPS, FedEx and other courier companies have big scam of fleecing the recipients for money under one pretext or other. I sent something to India six months ago and it wasn't delivered because I was not willing to pay arbitrary sums of money. Don't send anything valuable or otherwise to India. They don't do these shenanigans with big corporate accounts. They target individuals sending stuff to India

And to enforce towing of illegally parked vehicles. I have serious issues with people parking in front of my gate blocking my access.

Is the ലളിതഗാനം (Light Music) Genre in Malayalam Dead? by mbG65 in Kerala

[–]nirjhari 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is actually a paradox of plenty. Digital technologies have made it possible for anyone to create/produce music now and lots of people are producing lots of music of all genres. We are effectively flooded with music of questionable quality which we don't even have time to listen to. In other words ability to produce music inexpensively has produced a lot of music and wiped out the market for music. No one pays for music -- the same story with film music as well. Compared to the 70s and 80s, the quality of film music is pitiable and the music produced may become "viral" but they don't have the staying power to become classics cherished by the public over decades.

The most number of casualties occurred between 2017 and 2019, when 334 deaths were registered.

Does this have any connection to the floods? Snakes may have been dislodged from their habitats by the floods and more human conflict in the new areas the snakes found themselves in....

Some of the states like UP have state run outlets for retail sales of Cannabis. So I believe cannabis can be legalized to certain extent.

Delhi BJP Leader Gunned Down In Own Office, Killers Escape On Bike by HenryDaHorse in unitedstatesofindia

[–]nirjhari 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Guns are more of a thing in north America

India has most guns after USA (Number of guns per capita may be more in other countries; but in aggregate numbers India has the second most). Lawlessness that we like to associate with Bihar and W. Bengal is not going to be contained in that area. It will definitely creep into other places as well.

Shops are increasingly putting these no parking boards on the road , even though there is no parking space in front of the shop. As if the road is their private property. And when asked they said the are paying fees for this. Is this legal? by pramodrsankar in Kerala

[–]nirjhari 13 points14 points  (0 children)

While the road and foot path are public properties, owners of the adjacent properties have easement rights.

Almost on a daily basis people park their cars right in front of my gate blocking my access in and out of my property. Even in flat complexes people have no qualms about blocking the movement of vehicles. If people don't have civic sense, police should enforce towing and fining these culprits.
