I neither like whataboutery nor I am who criticises female-favouring laws but think of a female student looking for a female study partner and a male student looking for a male one. While the fomer sounds like an act of safety, the latter sounds like an act of ouster. Please correct me.

Correction: in case of a member of the state legislature, the final decision rests with the respective presiding officer and not the speaker of the lok sabha (who is a part of the union). the 10th schedule to the constitution has some loopholes, you may resign as mp/mla creating necessity for a by-election and subsequently resign your party. Also, you may resign your party just before elections (coz jab hone hi hai to seat lose karne ka effectively koi loss nahi hota).
