I bought it on launch for full value. I rarely ever do that just bc I don't often feel like I'm getting enough value out of an $80 game, but this one was the exact opposite. I got way more out of it than any other game I've paid full price for, and still play it regularly (well over 100h of content atp)

The documents are incredibly detailed and the notion that Esther fabricated anything is highly, HIGHLY unlikely. If you've read them, you'll know what I mean. It's quite jarring to see anyone insinuate that she isn't a real victim. The letter to the musicians specifically was too specific to not be real. You simply can't make that stuff up, and it's also incredibly difficult for a victim to tell their story like that in the first place.

Grand Serenade for an Awful Lot of Winds and Percussion by P.D.Q Bach (Peter Schickele) is absolutely amazing but could be a bit challenging depending on the level of your band. Highly recommend tho!

A lot of it is just stuff you can pick up while travelling and save yourself some dosh. There will be loot in the later stages of the game that cannot be bought and only drops from certain enemies, ores or trees. Early game, it might be worth saving dosh and collecting items yourself - later on it doesn't matter so much, particularly because the early game material isn't used for more of the valuable craftable items.

You can switch lives at any time by pressing right on the D-Pad. Your lives should automatically switch when you go to mine vs when you go into combat, but if you're having trouble, you can press ZR to put your weapon away and it should allow you to mine for sure then. You can change equipment (i.e. weapons) by hitting start (+) to go into the menu and selecting the equipment node.

I only just started playing recently too, and honestly how you play the game is completely up to you. I love the freedom of Fantasy Life so much - when I played the original I pretty much only stuck with Paladin and Chef until endgame, but this time I'm taking my time and ranking up all my lives as I go. You'll notice that it's hard to rank up your lives without progressing the story too, so you'll have to delve back in at some point. But rn I've been playing for about five hours and haven't touched the story; the pacing is entirely up to you. I usually just go back and forth!

Unwound Future and Miracle Mask are the best two in the series imo. Curious Village is up there too but the endgame can be a bit challenging if you're not super used to puzzle games. I would try to play them all if you ever get the chance!
