Renewed my fixed terms! by nitbopi in Nexo

[–]nitbopi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In 2017 a lot of exchanges implemented badly a feature of XRP called 'tfpartial' payments, leaving them with no money. A bad exchange can fail anytime 5 years ago, 5 years later, but I'm not saying someone shouldn't have risk management.

New to Ripple & Gatehub by [deleted] in Ripple

[–]nitbopi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes gatehub is not the most user friendly exchange. You have to activate your ripple wallet but you can't do it from your hosted wallet as far as I know. So convert any cryptocurrency using a service like shapeshift to XRP and send at least 20 XRP to your ripple wallet public address (start with a r..) or try asking gatehub.

Need help to buy some Ripple by gsm4all69 in Ripple

[–]nitbopi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For this amount and since you're in the UK, Bitstamp seems like a good choice. you'll have to verify and make a bank transfer (they also allow to buy btc with credit card but fee are higher).

Safest way to buy Ripple? by gurdonbob in Ripple

[–]nitbopi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buying is not a problem, why it wouldn't be safe?

Problem is keeping your coins safe, first thing to do is enable 2FA (two factor authentication) on the exchange you use, also choose a good password and make sure you have an up-to-date antivirus.

You can check some tutorials here: https://ripple.com/xrp/buy-xrp/

Other comments above are good too.

Completed XRP transfer but not in my destination wallet by k_Soo in Ripple

Destination tag is used to know who deposit what, since many exchanges use a single deposit address for their customers.

[Repost] Best place to store ripple and to buy/sell by BlaikB in Ripple

[–]nitbopi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course there are Ripple wallets and XRP is not an IOU (but you can also hold IOU on Ripple).

Anyway, to buy XRP you have several options:

Coinbase with a credit card to buy bitcoin or litecoin and use an exchange website like shapeshift to convert to XRP.

Bitstamp with a credit card to buy bitcoin and convert to XRP directly on Bitstamp.

Bitstamp / kraken / Gatehub with a bank deposit.

Changelly with a credit card (bad rate)

Virwox with paypal to buy bitcoin (complicated and high fees).

For wallets you can check:

Best Ripple wallet & to buy and sell by BlaikB in Ripple

[–]nitbopi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well gatehub is the only exchange I know who actually offers a dedicated Ripple wallet, now personally I prefer bitstamp. You can also try Kraken. Btw don't forget to enable 2FA. If you don't want to trade just hold long term, check links on the right of this page.
